That guy who liveson Highway 33 on the way into Port Washington always seems to have cars, motorcycles and ATV's for sale now has a 1969 GTO out there for sale. Mike and me stopped to look it over.
Whatever this guy is on, I want some. :D
It's had a crappy paint job, and it has the wrong heads. It IS a "real" GTO though, it has the "242" VIN #. But it has a holley carb and huge rust holes thru the front fenders where these cars are prone to rust. It says "ram air" on the hood but there is no ram-air induction parts. When I asked about the price, he says "15"
I'm thinking he can't possibly mean $15,000, but yup, he wants 15K for a rusty shitbox. He tried to tell me it was "100% original" but as I said it has the wrong heads on it (which look like they were painted with Krylon) and the gold interior does not go with black paint, and there's cracked bondo all over it as well.
It has some good things going for it- hide-a-way headlights (that never worked right from day one on these cars) and it is a manual car, but it needs a good $10,000 worth of restoration work and no GTO ever came with a holley 3310 carb. When I pressed him on this, he claimed to have "all the original parts". So being the wiseass that I am, I said "I thought you just said it was "100% original"???
I thanked him and told him to have a nice day.
 15 grand for THAT???? :thud:
It might be worth five tops.
