Jury Duty.

I just got summoned for jury duty for this week. I totally dreaded it but it really wasn't that bad. I didn't have to serve on any of the juries but I still got to hear about some pretty interesting cases. They tell you to keep the week open for it but luckily we only had to go for two days. So if you ever get picked to do it, it is an inconvenience but it can be really interesting.

Has anyone else had to do it?

I've been drawn for jury duty twice. Once when I lived in Michigan and once in Wisconsin. Fortunately, I was never picked to serve on a jury panel for a hearing.

I was drawn for last August. Even though you're only assigned a couple days you're "On Call" for the entire month. I was called in twice with less than 12 hours notice for trials that they needed extras for. I sat on one and was dismissed for the other. The first was a battery by inmate trial. The guy was accused of doing mean things to another with a shampoo bottle. We found him Innocent by reasonable doubt. The second was an employee theft case and since I install security systems they didn't like me being on the jury and dismissed me. Funny, I never actually had to go in for any of the dates that I was assigned.

My buddy used to work in the IT department for Cook County here, and told me about the lack of updated technology they used in the database to track residents. I blew off all of the notices and nothing ever came of it. They can take my taxes, but they cannot have my time...

i had to do it last year. but being in the profession i'm in they wouldn't pick me for any of the trials. :(

I've done it twice down here (26th@california) nice neighborhood, but never made it to hear any cases.

Lisa had to go down to 26th and California for a month for grand jury. I can't serve because I'm not a citizen. That's OK the number of times the wife has been called make up for me. :thumbs_up

I've been called for trial duty, I told them I was not a citizen and I have not heard from them since :flg:
