Ever since I got the car, everytime I push the clutch in I hear a whirring sound. Is that a sign of a bad throwout bearing? Also it seems like the clutch has been engaging higher up due to more wear, where is the adjuster on these things (it doesn't look like there is a firewall adjuster). Its a king cobra clutch and it does have and adjustable cable/quadrant, just don't know where it is at.

Another problem I have been having for awhile is a vibration that I can feel in the floor and in the shifter when at higher speeds and light on the gas or slowing down. It does this most of the time when I'm driving but some times it stops then starts up again randomly. Could this be due to the throwout bearing? Its harder to shift and the clutch seems harder to push in when this stuff happens. Could it be a bad driveshaft/ u -joint? I pushed the driveshaft up and it does have some play in it. Thanks for any help.

OH yeah forgot to mention sometimes it feels like something is jumping when I shift into third. I just replaced the tranny mount and i'm pretty positive the engine mounts are good. My rear end is also getting rebuilt (new ring and pinion and seals), but I dont think that would be part of the problem.

usually the t/o bearings make noise when the clutch pedal is out...but its completely possible that the bearing can be loud with the pedal in

if you choose to replace it, be sure to also install a new pilot bearing and steel t/o bearing retainer

the vibe could be a number of things...how's the yoke on your d/s look? is the transmission leaking fluid from the tailhousing at all? get under the car and grab the d/s with both hands and yank it around then side to side...listen for clunking. how old is the transmission mount? what kind of shifter are you using? anything other than stock is going to transmit vibrations directly to your hand. If the u joints are bad, or yoke worn, just pony up for an FMS driveshaft

I just put the transmission mount in a few weeks ago, so it's not old at all. I suppose this will give me an excuse to get that aluminum driveshaft, hehe.

On my 93 I used to have it had the same type of noise with the pedal in, it was the throwout bearing, I didnt think it was because it made it with the pedal pushed. One of my buddies had a similar vibration, he had a bent DS, replaced it with a FMS uit, and all was good. Good Luck

pulled the driveshaft and replaced the u joints, lot better now
