I got the 4 bolts loose on the driveshaft on the differential side, but the dang thing just won't drop down. I've beat it with a mallet as hard as I possibly could too. Any advice?

Try prying it back with a big screwdriver or pry bar they smack the hell out of it.

Wow, how old is the driveshaft? Must be some corrosion. When i did mine, i just pushed inwards into the tranny and pulled it down and out. Hope the flame torch will work for you, or try a heavy hammer but that may dent it? LoL

how does the yolk look, now that you got it off? Any grooves in it?

took it off, u joints were bad, no grooves in the yoke, just showed a little shinier where it goes in the tailshaft, but no grooves. No more vibrations.
