Apple is now able to run Mac os X and Windows XP native. Best of both worlds.

Yeah, until two weeks later when somebody devises a crack to run OS X on standard PC Intel hardware and people start building their own machines with OS X for like 1 bazillionth the price of a Mac.

Just use one for a day or two, you'll understand.

There's already tons of cracks out there for OSX on x86. And, it's illegal due to the OSX license.

It won't become too big without any driver support. If you have almost identical hardware to the Intel-based Macs, then you might get lucky and have all your hardware working. Otherwise, most home-brewed machines will have a rough time with OSX since they're not all the same cookie-cutter machines.

Now, an Intel-based PowerMac, when released, is in my sights. Should be about the time that I would be upgrading the gaming machine...so I can get a nice replacement for my PowerMac G4 (which is getting a touch old) and my gaming rig in one shot since I can dual-boot(or triple-boot like I will - Mac-Win-Linux). Ends up being a hell of lot cheaper for me in the long run than having to upgrade/purchase two separate new machines.

Seems like a typical response from someone who doesn't know much about apple. I agree, their prices are a bit higher, but for what you get they are not that much more.

You can buy an intel based mac mini for 599.00 which includes a DVD burner 512mb of ram, built in wireless, front row(apple's new media center with IR remote) and bluetooth. Not too shabby in my mind. A brand new imac is only 1200.00 with all the same built in also and a 17 inch widescreen monitor, keyboard, and 4 button mouse with scroll wheel. (yes apples can have a right click) Don't forget the built in isight digi cam.
