Ok, here goes. On my way to work yesterday I was on I-94 in Delafield heading to Oconomowoc. Out from under the car in front of me comes this huge a$$ chunk of truck tire. With no time to swerve I hit it with the right front. It actually slowed the car down a little as it dragged underneath. I looked in the rear view mirror to see the tire and many pieces of glass from my fog light lens being spread all over the highway. I figured that the whole right front of the bumper was gone but as it turns out it's just the lens and a few rubber scuffs that should buff out. Now as if that wasn't bad enough, the fiance and I went down to western days at State Fair park last night with some friends. Afterward we were heading up to the Forum on the highway to get something to eat quick. (It was about 11:45) As I am coming up to Hwy. 100 on Greenfield I see a cop in the process of doing a u-turn on Greenfield. He pulls in behind me at the light and as we turn the corner sure enough, on with the lights. So I pull into the nearest parking lot and he says do you know why I pulled you over? You don't have your front license plate on, what's up with that? Also, your exhaust is too loud, what did you do to it. I told him that the old exhaust was worn out and I replaced it with aftermarket. Then he goes into the old "you can't replace it with anything louder than stock blah blah blah. In the mean time there are ricers racing away from the intersection but apparently having a loud exhaust is more of a safety issue. Anyways, I have 10 days to return my exhaust to stock levels or get a $100 fine. Anyone have a set of stock mufflers I could borrow for a few days? :D I hope Mark's bad luck isn't wearing off on me.

The dreaded Truck Tire Debris strikes again!!! Argh!!
As for the exhaust, I said this before and people called me out on it. Had the same thing happen in Hales Corners- Cop went on and on about how in Cheeseland you cannot alter the stock exhaust, no matter what the company selling the mufflers/pipes says about "50 state legal"
Glad you didn't end up having more damage from the "Gator" in the road (that's truckerspeak for tire debris)

just find a cop to sign off on the ticket. i had one at oscars sign it for me. or just put somthing in there like fiberglass wrap so it sounds quiet. then remove it after you leave.

Well thats what I'm working on. I know someone who is "high up" in a local police dept. (Don't want to give out too much info) I'm going to see if he can do it for me. I plan to get a quieter exhaust system anyway, I just didn't plan on doing it in the next 10 days. As soon as I get the pics off of my camera of the front end I'll post em. I'm busy cleaning the crap out of the garage since it's a nice day but I'll try to do it later.

Yeah it does, but i've been stopped for that in my old 325i. When i bought my `03 GT brand new, they had to order it and get one built in Dearborn, i told them repeatingly, do not drill the holes for the front plates, car shows up with the holes drilled into the bumber, so i really had no choice to throw the ugly plate on, i was pissed.

I don't even have a place to put my front plate if I ever get yanked for it! I would just zip tie it on get it checked off then remove it.
