My fuel pump has become quite noisy as of late. My question is should I just throw a stock replacement in for the time being, or get a decent Walbro 190 or 255. I know either of those is overkill for my stock car. I plan on H/C/I asap, but I am not sure how long that will be it could be this summer, or next. What are youre thoughts? Thanks :thumbs_up

If you have to go to the trouble of pulling the tank, stick in a 190LPH pump, which will be enough to support considerable future mods, yet not be "too big" where it heats up the fuel too much. No brainer, go to a 190LPH...

Put a 255lph in it,the pump wont heat up its fine for everyday use,& you"ll also have enough fuel if you decide to build it,i'd put an adj regulator on it for tuning purposes.

Couple things...

255LPH pumps DO heat up the fuel when you run down below 1/4 tank. They circulate a tremendous amount of fuel in a loop. A 190 LPH will not raise the temp of the fuel as much as a 255 will. Is this a "critical" issue? Not really, but your car will run better with cooler fuel temps.

As far as adjustable regulator, a lot of guys use them (I have a Kirban on my Cobra) but this is a hack at best because in time the EEC will learn itself around the raised FP and simply shorten the injector pulse-width to bring the A/F ratio back to the preset tables in the EEC. The only way to make LASTING changes in A/F ratio is to use a piggyback device such as an EEC Tuner, AFM PMS, FMF EFI Extender, or other device that alters the tables.
This info comes from the guy who designed the Ford EFI systems, Sam Guido of Visteon Systems. When I bought my EFI extender, he asked if I had an adjustable regulator, and he said to be sure to set it back to "stock" or better yet put the stock unit back on the car and let the Extender do the A/F adjustments.

When you use an adjustable regulator you initially will see results but it will not take long for the EEC to undo the added fuel pressure to a large degree. If you dial-down FP then the EEC will eventually lengthen the injector pulse width to compensate...

All im saying is if he is going to build it up a little bit heads, cam, etc it dosent hurt to have the extra fuel the adj reg is assuming hes not using pms, dfi, etc if he is then he'd be a lot better off for tuning

I have a used 255lph pump from Holley, I can shoot you a pick, I'll let it go cheap...
It was in my car for just a few seasons, and saw less than 800 street miles, and only about 25 1/4 mile passes. I've just upgraded to an aftermarket tank with sump and external pumps...

Let me know.
