I have a 2002 Silverado, how do I remove the radio? I know how to do it in my old 95, the front "face trim piece thingy" surrounding all the gauges and radio/hvac controls popped off exposing all the bolts for everything in the dash. The 2002 appears to be similar. Any nuts/bolts I should be aware of before I pry? Any suggestions/tips?

It is real easy. Make sure the steering wheel is all the way down. Then the bezel that surrounds the gauges, heater controls and radio just snaps in place. Pull it gently and it will come off in one piece. The radio then has two tabs on the sides that you depress and the radio pulls right out. They make a new plastic chassis for the aftermarket radios to mount to. Then the radio and chassis slides in just like the original radio. Just push it in until the tabs lock. They also make conversion harnesses for the wiring. No slicing or anything, just plug it into the factory harness and then into the radio.

If you have any other questions about the procedure, shoot me an e-mail and I'll reply back with the steps listed in the factory service manual.

ok well I got the radio out, and was dissapointed. I was expecting auxilary rca inputs on it to plug my ipod in. How else can I use my ipod on this factory radio without using an fm modulator (i used an fm mod. with a cd changer once and it sounded like crap)

I appreciate the response and thanks for the offer, however I would not need assistance installing it. I do think I might go to best buy and just finish off maxing out my card for a decent alpine deck to get some good tunes. I would buy your deck, however id only end up replacing it farther down the road.

not a big deal, id almost expect you to..that deck has been in more vehicles than I care to count....I got the alpine that I have in my stang for 200, and I love it.

Use the cassette adapter with the headphone jack that plugs into your ipod. We got one for my girlfriend's Ranger and it sounds OK. It's like $20 at Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. Sounds better than the FM modulator I used to have for mine I'd say.

is the radio a cassette or cd. Does it have the AUX button on the front? If there is a open port on the back of the radio (looks like a cd changer plug) there is a interface module that will plug into there to give you rca jacks. Then you wire it up and whrn you hit the AUX button it will play through the radio true sound not modulated. Try this link you might have to copy and paste it http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/product.php?productid=341&js=n
