Start with a 75 shot and go from there.

I started with a dry kit...used the 75 went thru a whole bottle. Then went up to the 100...no probs at all. Went through many bottles with that. I was a lucky one i guess.

I had a dry system on my last engine and hit it religiously with 150hp without a problem. I have a fogger on a stock block now and it is holding together so far but I don't have much time on it yet either.

There are some guys on here and the Corral(Silver vert) that have seen 575rwhp reliably on stock shortblocks.

Reviving an old thread here.....

Does anyone have a link to jet combinations = HP shot type of chart.
The chart I have says that a 75hp = 46n2o + 26 fuel
100hp = 52n2o + 33 fuel

I have the combination of 52n2o + 35fuel , is it safe to assume that this is a 100hp combo? I would like to start out with a 75 shot and will have to get some jets for it.

Mustang's bottom ends are known to handle 500 hp easily. You should look on mustanggt.org and see if your year has forged pistons i know 86 does. If it does I would say you shouldn't even break a sweat with a 125 or 150 shot.

for whats it worth , i have been putting the squeeze to my 84 gts stock block, pistons, rings, crank with 89k miles for about the last 5 years. I started off slowly with a 50 shot and i have gotten to the 150-175 level. i don't think the 84's even had forged pistons, just some cast junk ....

I believe that 93 and up Mustang are no longer forged pistons, they have the hyperjunk.

A wise man once said....It depends. It's all in the tune....and how lucky you are. If your tune is safe AND you have no upsets in your fuel or ignition system you'll be able to run at the high levels that were mentioned (150+)and not hurt anything. But if you're aggressive with the tune and you get a hickup in fuel pressure or something goes awry in your ignition curve you might hurt a piston....or 2....or 8. I guess the big thing is...Do you know how to read spark plugs or do you know someone that does? All of the guys on here that have run nitrous with forced induction have recommended starting small and moving up as the plugs tell you too. Heck, take the forced induction away and you should still start out that way. Secondly, have you thought of paying someone to put a tune on the care so you know it will be safe? There are a couple of guys on this site that can do that for you too, so that's always another option. Just my $0.02......

I sprayed 175 at my stock block(WET KIT) no problems and that was like 4 or 5 bottles no bang .Took apart last winter and upgraded a few things, everything looked great it had about 125,000 on it and i sprayed that much at it.So my 2 cents to.

I ran 10 teens with my stock block 347 with a plate for 3 years. car was around 3150-3200 with me in it. That shortblock still runs today unfreshened, but in a slower injected car. I don't know how long it would have lasted but I believe it had alot to do with the machine work and attention to detail. That is by far my most favorite engine I ever had. Stock roller block all 4340 eagle, je slugs, hydro roller(no peske valve adj.) Iron world heads that flowed a whopping 257 at .550 (those things weigh about 40# a piece) a victor jr., and the same junk carb I still use. I blew a slew of headgastkets with the big shot plate at 73-82 jetting, and after getting wise turned to a pro-flow plate and stepped it down to the 65-65 jetting running 10.30 to 10.17 depending on 60 foot all with hoosier qtps. Welll that was a trip down memorie lane.....

I will say this about stock stuff. Attention to detail, and a quality crank will help greatly. A good balance, and lessened crank flex helps wonders. :biggrinsa

85 gts ran forged 86 ran hypo then back to forged 87-93

That is very incorrect, 1985 was the first year of forged pistons 86 also had them and they ran till 92 in 93 they went hyper, and in 84 they had sandcast pistons.

I wouldnt say that. Ask Mark302 about them handling 500hp easily. 150 shot easily, sure, but not 500hp easily.

I should have put have been known, not all of them can but they have been known to. Mustang bottom ends are relativly strong.
