Ok-Just ordered it up along with the MSD6 TFI harness.
What are the next steps in aiding in my tuning? I have my timing set just under 10*. How will the BTM actually help with detonation and all that "bad" stuff?

It pulls timing out under boost. You can set your base timing higher for when you are not making boost, then set the BTM to retard timing when you make boost. Detonation happens when you have too much timing or poor quality fuel combined with higher boost pressures. You will have to experiment with how much timing and how much retard you can get away with. If you run 10 degrees base with 6 PSI, you could probably run the BTM at "1" and be fine. When I ran race gas in mine, I ran 12 degrees base and ZERO on the BTM. The other benefit here is that you should be able to open up your plug gap a bit when running the MSD ignition...

What exactly does openeing the "gap" do?

More spark area. That's desireable. The only reason you close down the gap with a blower is because boost can "snuff" the spark, so closing the gap counters this condition. However, if you run an ignition amplifier like an MSD box, the spark is hotter and less likely to be supressed by high cylinder pressures, so you can run the "stock" plug gap with your blower. It's generally accepted that the hotter and larger spark will result in a better burn and higher performance.

Cool- thanx. It will be here on Tuesday. Does it really matter where I mount it?
Im sure I'm sure I'll have more questions later about it also.
