X2....

Sure does not seem like it.

I'd like to take this thread in a specific direction:

"Where were you and what were you doing when you first heard the news?"

For us, we had just settled into our new home, we had lived here only 2 weeks. I was downstairs in the office (which has since been moved to the upper level) and happened to catch the first "BREAKING NEWS" account. As I was hearing the commentators saying that it was thought to be a "small plane" I was shocked to see, along with millions of other Americans, the 2nd plane, which was clearly a passenger jet, slam into the other tower and at that moment we all knew this was no accident.
I took off from work for the day and Missie and I watched TV the entire day. We saw the towers fall and I was sick to my stomach.

Well my dad was taking me to work due to my car being in the shop. We were listening to a segment called Winners, Whiners, Losers, when they broke in asn said that a small plane hit the towers...I got to work and told a few people who fliped on the tv..a few moments before the 2nd plane hit....I will never forget that day, going past the airport (bus route taking me right past it on my way to school) and seeing all the planes on the gound, some still sitting on the runway, the quiet sky, and the total shock about what just happened...

I was driving to work and flipped on the NPR news and heard about the first plane. Freaky thing was I was on I90/94 in Chicago almost nose on to the Sears tower when I heard about it. I drive that route everyday and it took a good 3 months before it stopped really bothering me every time I turned nose on to the building. Sometimes when I see a plane close to the buildings the thoughts are still there. I have watched one show recently that showed the planes hitting the buildings and the thoughts aren't much different than they were that day. I think I'll avoid all the coverage today. I know some politicians and commentators are going to say stupid things to try to make hay from it and that'll just make me angry.

From what Neuwave said about the planes. We live several miles from Ohare but close enough to an approach route that you would hear the planes coming in. Funny how once your used to a sound it bothers you when it's not there. I was glad to hear the planes again.

it was my senior year of high school and i was in my first period speech class. the principal called over the loudspeaker saying something has happened and for every room to turn on the tv's. i saw the first building smoking, then i saw the second plane hit. I knew what was happening but i still kept thinking to myself whats going on? i was in disbelief. we watched the news all during class and i watched as the first tower fell, then the second.
I contribute alot of what happened this day 5 years ago, to why i am wearing a uniform right now. seeing coverage or documentaries on the attacks always hits a certain spot in me that is undescribable.

I woke up in San Diego, turned on the tv & at first thought it was a movie.
The I realized it was real, and that I was 2,000 miles from my family.
A three day business trip turned into three weeks. During the day helicopters were flying overhead all the time & all night long fighter jets patrolling.

i was in my first morning class at college. someones cell phone beeped really loud, like an alert for a voicemail or similar. the professor was like alright this is why we dont allow cell phones in class, SOME people forget to shut them off. the guy took it out to turn it off and he said "holy $hit." the professor remarked something to the effect, that is the rudest thing ive seen anyone do in a long time, please come up here. the guy said "my phone says that a plane hit the world trade center in new york." right away we turned on the tv in class, one of those huge pull down screens, and we all saw the second plane hit the other tower live. we were glued to the screen all day long, never left the room. a day ill never forget. :flg:

In a High School Physics class... Another teacher ran into our class room and told us to turn the TV on... As our instructor watched he looked like he was baffled, and most likely trying to figure out how much force had to of been exerted, etc... Come to think of it... I had driven my '83 Ford Ranger to school that day... And had a Triple Cheeseburger, Fries, and a Coke for lunch... The day was relatively boring since most of my teachers didn't let us watch the TV to see what was going on... Then after school, I was bored since none of my friends parents would let them leave their neighborhoods, so I went to Brookfield, from Menomonee Falls to hang out with my friend Kathleen where she worked.. MMMM Donut shop... Oh yeah and my dad and his ex-wife were across the boarder in Mexico... They got an extended vacation... How's that for a good memory?

I was working in a SBC slick hut, which is a remote central office. We were listening to MANCOW on the radio when it all went down. That morning all C.O. went into lock down and had to wait for a little while to go back to work. It wasn’t till 5:00 PM that I saw the first news clips of it. Like all of America I was in deep shock. The pictures of the towers hit me hard, but the pics of the Ambulances lines up with ash on them stung more. Knowing that every vehicle had a crew that most likely won't be coming home.

WE owe a lot to our Firefighters, EMT, Police, and our service men and women. But in our darkest hour we saw what the true meaning of courage was, and again we saw the AMERICAN SPRIT. Which they thought it could be broken. The men and women on flight 93 learned that the only thing terrorist have is TERROR. Once you remove that they have nothing. And the best way is to go about living your life.

Working in waukesha at a print shop.I couldn't hear the radio too well because of my press being too loud,so all that I caught was that there was a plane crash. It didn't sound like anything big at the time, due to me not hearing any details. Then they brought a t.v. into the breakroom.I could see into it from my press, and just couldn't believe it.I just wanted to go home.
I went home around 11:00 that morning and watched the news the rest of the day.
I was supposed to go wedding dress shopping that evening.....didn't seem quite right to do something like that after all that had happened.

I was sitting at my desk at work chatting with a co-worker when he got a call. He whispered to me that it was his mom and if she was calling it was serious. We both started scanning the web for news and found video feed of the first plane and then the second. They fed the news feed through the loud speakers for the rest of the afternoon. Even before the second plane hit my co-worker and I said "...this is no accident...". It infuriated me then and it infuriates me now, especially the cowardice actions of those that say we we have no business there.
