The day has finally arrived for my Mustang. Lynn and I are driving to Hubertus to see Marv. He is going to fine tune the car.
We are really excited! I have waited long enough for my engine to go in, to be broken in and to drive it. After tomorrow I will know what kind of a monster I have created!
We are taking the camera and the video camera with us. I will try to post the stuff tomorrow night!
I can't wait!! :shifter:

Wow! Marv does great work!!! The car runs 100 times better!! Much smoother and just all around better!
Right now I can't post the graphs because I need to figure out how to make the image smaller. I'll just give you the numbers. 294RWHP 315RWTQ. I still have to edit the video, I'll post some of that later.
Thanks for all the kind words.
Congrats.
Nice numbers.

Whats the whole setup?
Thanks Danno!!
It is a PER built 306 with Brodix ST50 heads, Typhoon intake, and 30lb injectors. If you want to know more I'll be happy to share it.

Once I get a chance to figure out how to post the graphs you'll be able to see that it goes lean around 4800 rpm. That is because the injectors are being maxed out. Marv was surprised when he determined that! I have 30's in there!!! I guess the engine flows some air!!!
Even though the injectors are being maxed out, Marv said that it is still safe. :thumbs_up

Congrats Greg! Those are decent numbers. I was over by Marv today but you were gone by then...
That should be good for 12's all day...

Altough I thought I was going to be bored, I was not a bit! Watching Greg's reaction and listening to the howell of the exhaust was awesome. I would not have traded this day for anything.
I am glad that the mustang is running better now, and Greg has some answers to some of his questions. Marv swaped air filters for him, so now it is not hanging down below the bumper like it was. That gives us more comfort when driving it in rain.
I know that one thing is for sure, the quality work that Marv does and the time and attention he puts into his work is well worth the time and the money we spent.
Sorry we missed you uncle Greg, what time were you there?
Thanks to all of you for the compliments you gave Greg. We'll see you at the track on the 30th!

That makes me feel good! That was basically my goal for my car. I wanted a 12 second street car. I know that it isn't one yet and I may not be able to run in the 12's right away but it deffinately sounds good to hear that coming from somebody who is so experienced in drag racing!
Is it possible on street tires?
Sweet! Good to hear that your steed is back on it's hoofs!
Thanks Joe! It's a lot more fun and easier to drive now that Marv waved his magic wond over it!!

Thank you! I didn't think I would max out those injectors either. Marv was even surprised.
marv is the best .....great numbers greg

I really doubt that you are maxing out 30 lb'ers at those numbers. I was putting 327 to the wheels on 24's and those were almost maxed. 30 lb injectors should be good for 480 @ the crank.

What fuel pump are you running? Id think that maybe your running outta fuel there, before id think your maxing out 30's.

Thanks everyone!!!
I was looking at the dyno graph closer and I am not maxing out my injectors. It actually goes rich, not lean. I'm not sure why Marv thought it was going lean, he must've been looking at the graph wrong. We're all humans, we all make mistakes.

Holy cow, that could be dangerous for a tuner!

Yes, it could be. It doesn't go extremely rich, just a little bit.

You should clarify your statements Greg. In a previous post you said that Marv said your tune was "safe"
You used the term "injectors are maxed out" but how are you determining that by a dyno graph? The printout does not indicate what the injector duty cycle is, so where are you getting this "injectors maxed out" from? You don't know what the duty cycle is do you?
I'm sure Marv knows very well how to read a dyno printout...

I uploaded my dyno graph on to putfile. http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=3624966

Yes, I should carify my statements. I said that my tune was safe because when Marv was all done tuning my car he told me that it was a safe tune. I also said that my injectors were maxed out because while Marv was tuning my car he was asking me what fuel pump I am running and if I recently replaced the fuel filter. I'm running a 190 lph pump and I replace my filter when I installed the engine. He asked me those questions to try to determine if the fuel pump was not sufficient or to determine if there was a restriction in the lines. I am not sure why he thought it was going lean, but he said that the injectors must be maxed out. That is where I got this "injectors maxed out" from. No I do not know the injector duty cycle.
I agree, I'm sure Marv knows how to read a dyno printout.

Yup you'll need tires for 12's. I have similar power and on street tires I couldn't get past low low 13's. Put nittos on and the first run was a 12.90. Congrats, love the N/A powa!

I'd just like to clear up a few of the questions regarding the dyno sheet and tuning of this car. The sheet Greg posted doesn't show the problem with this car, it shows the solution. This is the last run made. The four runs before this are where the problems were. The A/F ratio at WOT was 13.5/1 and would not respond to adjustments of the MAF transfer curve. That's leaner than advisable for a NA car. After logging the injector pulsewidth/duty cycle and fuel pressure, I raised the fuel pressure 10 psi for additional room to adjust the curve. The duty cycle was very high (85%), but should have been enough. All I could conclude was that the injectors could not deliver any more fuel at the stock pressure. System pressure was fine and the MAF has more than enough left. I didn't supply the injectors and therefore can't verify there output. injectors can verify 10-15% between manufacturers, so comparing one set to another is invalid unless they have been flowed on a bench. The additional pressure brought the AF in line and left plenty of overhead for safety. The car runs well and is setup very safely. This problem may have caused a number of things, including injectors, battery comp voltage, Fuel rail restriction, etc. The most cost effective way to handle it was to raise the pressure. I hope this clears up any questions or misconceptions about this. Thanks!!!!

Thank you very much Marv!! You explained some things that I didn't realize were happening before you raised the fuel pressure. Like Marv said, I hope this clears up all the confusion!

So if I might ask, how much fuel pressure are you running at now?? What was the F/P at before you turned it up??
Those are very good #'s.. It should run in the 12's on street tires.. If the track is prepped good.. My Cleveland made 312 RWHP & had no issues running in the high 12's on street tires with a 3000 stall.. Just work on the launch..
