I will be installing my HCI combo soon, I have gathered everything I need, I havent got a adjustable fuel pressure regulator yet, because I have heard alot of conflicting opinions. Do I need one? Thanks

Using other means such as a piggyback system like a PMS EEC Tuner, TWEECER or EFI Extender make more sense and provide LASTING results. Suppose you lean out your a/f ratio by dialing back your fuel pressure with an AFPR Adam. What do you suppose happens next? The EEC will lengthen the fuel injector pulse width to compensate. If you use a device like an EFI extender or PMS, these tell the EEC to electronically alter the A/F ratio. I have a Kirban AFPR. I also run an EFI extender. I was told by the inventor of the EEC IV to set my fuel pressure back to stock, and allow the EFI Extender to manage my A/F ratio. Now I also have the Pro-M remote optimizer, it has a WOT adjustment for the mass-air voltage which allows you to richen or lean out the mixture at WOT.
Come to our dyno day at Borchardt's. I'll show you on a dyno how these devices work to change the A/F ratio. Using the regulator, you will not see lasting results at part throttle. It's fact. The EEC will learn its way around this in short order. The injector pulse-width will be altered to bring the ratio back to the pre-programed tables.
This is also why the Ford Mass-air system is awesome for modifications; because it can sense changes in airflow and fuel and make the needed changes in the injector pulse to properly balance the A/F ratio in relation to the mods.
Carrying this discussion further- on the newer Modulars (like my Mach1) you use a piggyback tuner like a Diablo Preditor or the SCT Micro Tuner (Which is what Paul Svinicki used to tune my Mach)
Do it ELECTRONICALLY. That's where it's at with Fuel Injection.

Greg, I will be at the Dyno day. I hope to have this pretty much squared away by then, and have it fine tuned over there. The points you brought up are exactly what I had heard from a couple places. I think I will look into doing it electronically. Where did you get you extender? About how much do they run? Thanks again guys

the extender is cool....but other options are out there with many many features just like Greg mentioned
from what I gather, there are a few different ways to make the afpr work...but they're not the greatest. The eec can only compensate for a certain percentage of afr diviation by extending/shortening the pulse width, so you can crank the fuel pressure say 15lbs greater than stock and it will make a lasting impact on afr.
