...to drive the car WOT after installing long tube headers? I spent the past week installing my SLP longs with a QA1 tubular k-member and i'm almost done  I need to put the pass. side spring in and then it's ready to roll :burnout: This was such a hard and long install that i don't wanna do this again, but actually, i'm helping ghoststang next weekend to put MAC LT's on his :thud: I'm afaird to jump on it and warp the flange or gasket and cause a leak. what is the best/safest way to break it in? I was planning to just mildly drive it for like 15 minutes and let it cool over night. I don't know what i'd do if i had a leak
(i used the stock gaskets and hardware)

You're shitting me  And no leaks? What kind if headers do you run? I wanna stand on that pedal and feel the huge trq gain these LT's supposely gives you, but if anytrhing goes wrong, i think i'll go and join a demo derby with the damn car :shifter:

I did nothing special w/ mine. They are going to heat up and cool the same way every time you drive it after that. Just make sure everything is tight first.

Well, i let it idle for 15minutes and it idles perfect now, around 700-800rpms. Drove it easy, straight to this shop to drop off for an alignment.

Fatstang, get over to PHP to get a tune to take advantage of those long tubes!! No chip, no foul. Bet they sound great. Something about the sound of long tubes!!

What or who is "PHP?" Pauls High Performance i'm guessing? I plan to get a tune Tuesday next week. Plan to go to Sutton Performance in Matteson, IL, about 60 miles south from me. They do SCT tunes, and all i hear are great things coming from them. i spoke to Ryan, the dyno tuner guy and he seemed really nice and very knowledgeable. I'll post the new numbers when it happens. I would like to get the torque over 300 at the wheels, but we'll see.

Repetitive heat cycles with a weak/thin flange design or unequal header bolt torque create the warpage and leaks. There's no break in with headers. Let her rip. Just don't let the cops catch you.

Yes "Pauls". I've heard good stuff on SCT too. Depending on what mods you have, don't expect large gains from the long tubes. The "mid-range" gain in the torque ban is typically where you'll see the gain, average 8-22 horsepower depending on your set up.
On my old nearly 500rwhp 03 Cobra, I gained a little hp and 22 ftlbs of torque @ 11 psi.
I'm sure you'll love the sound!!

It sounds great! I love it, it's loud, but i think the cops should leave me alone. I haven't pushed it over 3k yet, i bet in the high rpms it gonna really scream:)
