I have been debating yanking out my A/C compressor, condenser, and all related lines and such. I never use the A/C anyways and thought it would be nice to shed the weight not to mention drag on the motor as well as free up some space......
What do you guys think? I can get a replacement idler pulley for 40 bucks from Steeda, of course, and I would keep everything I take out to put back in if I ever sell the car. Anyone have experience with this?

I just did it.....You will save a little over 40 lbs total counting all the refridgerant....I had the engine out however....It is a tight fit but it shouldn't take long....Remove compressor by unbolting the block that has 2 high pressure hoses on it.....Take A/C disconnects and disconnect 2 lines.....and then take out the condensor and that's about it.....It may not be so bad in a 2v, but the 4v heads get in the way alittle....

I just did it too - but with the motor in the car. You won't save any drag on the motor as it just free-wheels if it isn't on, but like Ryan said you will save 40lbs or so...

Hmm if it's only a weight issue I will wait until I get a bit more hardcore into the actual racing aspect, for now it's more of a street car for me.
