Over-active PCV Modification

Well I finally got around to dealing with the Over-active PCV system in my car.

I did the clear fuel filter mod.

Parts:
1 - Purolator clear fuel filter part # PRO #806 for 3/8" lines.
1 - 3/8" I.D. fuel line 2' long
4 - 3/8" hose clamps

Total about $17.00

I attached a short piece of fuel line directly to the PCV valve, then the filter.
I cut the original hard line about 6" from the upper intake, and connected it to the filter with another piece of fuel line. Secured all connections with the hose clamps and was done in about 10 minutes.

The filter has replaceable cartridges so they can be changed as needed.

is it just the 99-00 v6's that need that or are there more years? i can't remember for sure if my 01 needed that done or not, for some reason my brain is telling me no though... :shrug:

It's mostly the 99 & 00.

The 01 valve cover had some changes to try to stop this problem.

Pepboys in Arlington Heights on Rand Rd carries the filter & replacement cartridges.

I did it last night and checked it this morning when I got to work. 25 miles of driving and it caught a fair amount of oil. I did modify the install slightly. The PCV valve I got had a straight outlet and then a right angle adaptor. I used a short piece of hose from the PCV to the filter and then used the right angle adaptor on the filter outlet. Other than that it looks about the same. It let me position the filter a bit more upright for oil drain back.

Now you need to change your plugs. Put some fresh ones in.

Yep that will be soon. Gotta get the rear sorted first. Argh I checked and they still arn't indicating shipped on my order from Stangsuspension. :mad:
