Been talking to the engine builder quite a bit in the last couple of days. We have had A TON of problems getting the motor set up and clearanced. First off, the aluminum "K" block was an older model that had a tapered tunnel and i run a "straight" journal cam we had to line bore the block to get the right bearings in it. Then the valve reliefs were off just a bit and the intake valves were hitting on the "V" where the intake and exhaust reliefs intersect. His first question was whether we moved the valves around in the heads...but we didn't. Venolia must have screwed up when they cut the reliefs. Then the new cam with well over 0.800" of intake lift only had around 0.060" PTV....so he opened that up some. Next, my new $650 aluminum oil pan wouldn't clear the front main cap...so he had to cut the pan and weld it back up to get the proper clearance. I didn't hear from him today so it must have been a good one. LOL!

Anyway....the short block should be together now. Some milling needed to be done to the intake to get that right...and then some minor port matching again.

We plan on being on the dyno Friday of next week!!!

Yeah.....next week. You wanna go watch a SBF make 800+ HP on the dyno? It's probably a 3 hour drive from your place. I'll cut out your tongue if you tell anyone the numbers.....or lop off your fingers if you post them, though!

Where is this? Down in Illinois??

Yeah....just outside of Joliet. Randy at PER is doing the motor. I think it was 2 1/2 hours from my cousin's house in Richfield when i went down there last year and got a drum of C16. Then again, i drive like a maniac. The ride there will be quick. The ride back will be much slower with the expensive chunk of aluminum in the back... :D

The more problems you have now, the less you'll have during the season. (I HOPE thats the way it goes!)

Good Luck Dave!
If I didn't have to work I would definetly make the trip!
