Finally I get a chance to get on here at work. I can't leave for a day and things go to pot.
The car feels really good, I had some other stuff to get done so I only went around the block yesterday after I put on the shocks. I did a few stop light launches and it hooks up good. The new uppers took a lot of slop out of the rear end. :thumbs_up

TGIF, Man it's been a long week. Gotta go to St. Paul, MN next week from Tuesday to Thursday for work. Wonder what the weather is there?
I hope my parts show up. I gotta tear into it anyway, I can't go another day with the knocking noise. I hope to get it taken apart tonight so they'll be lots of time to put it back togeather. Think I'll pull the uppers and grease 'em while I'm at it.
If anyone can stop by on Saturday to help wresle the rear end that would
Ya Hoooo!
Friday! Work looks like it will be quiet today so it should be an easy slide into the weekend.
Tim, I'll see what tomorrow looks like and try to drop by.

Cool it's coming togeather. We'll need to talk about that CD. It sounds like a good resource to have.
Yes it is.
I have it on my laptop and I also have Virtual CD installed so I don't have to load the actual CD.

Uh Oh, bolt owned again. The drivers lower control arm bolt at the axel end has rusted/frozen to the bushing insert. Soaked it down for tonight.
Got the other side rear bolt out and took the uppers off to grease them. Found the real source of the knock and movement I was feeling. the upper bolts are smaller than the bushing insert. I think they're 12mm instead of the 14 that the lowers are. I'm going to get some correct bolts tomorrow morning.
I think I'm gonna need help and a impact gun to get the lower bolt off. I also still need to undo the exhaust. Really tired right now :thud:
Tim,
If that's the case you need to let them know. Their parts should fit right with the stock bolts.
Tim Russell
04-10-2004, 08:15 AM
I think the GT upper bolts are 14mm howerver because the have another note about the V6 in the install they should be made aware. It would be nice to have a sleve to make the stock bolts fit. I gotta check the holes in the upper torque boxes to make sure larger bolts fit first. Getting the stuck lower out of the drivers side is another worry.
Ah gee, another excuse to get an impact gun (snicker snicker). I got a lot of uses for one so I'll be looking when I go out this morning.
The note about the quad shocks on a V8?
Keep me posted about the bolt hole sizes on the upper. The ACE hardware on Waukegan in Glenview has a pretty good selection of Metric bolts.
Tim Russell
04-10-2004, 08:46 AM
Ok I just checked the Body holes are 12mm but the holes in the control arms are 14. The stock control arm bushings are larger than the bolts but have dimples to center them on the bolt. Also the stock have teeth to dig into the sides of the torque boxes. I figure that's probably true accross the board. Unless I want to drill the holes out to 14 mm (solid brake line in the way but could be done) I need to sleave down the bushing. Even the stockers have some slop but it's less than these. Time to hit the hardware store for ideas. I might just drill it out. This is becoming an invloved project :D

So time for some more mods on the 'Stang :D
