I just got my BTM. I need to know where to connect the white wire to. The diagram that I got off of MSD's website says the white wire from the BTM goes to the "points or electronic ignition amplifier(original coil wire)". What wire would that be? I have the 6A MSD box and an MSD Blaster coil...if it makes any difference when hooking the btm up. Any help would be great! Thanks.

One other thing. There is a grey and a black wire coming out of the btm for the dial. Which one connects to which as far as the green/purple wires that come out of the dial?

You should have had a connector that just plugs in between the coil and the harness. Hold ona sec, let me see what I can find. Is this the MSD/Vortech BTM?

Back in a sec...

MSD-8762

It's not a blue Vortech model but I'm thinking they are the same thing. It's got a red, balck, white, and yellow wire coming from it. I dont have stock ignition or a stock coil.

hmm... I didn't see your last reply before I posted the diagram.. no yellow wire on this one...

What all does a BTM need to retard the timing? Obviously you have the vacuum line hooked up. YOu've got the red/12v, black/ground. Yellow wire goes to the white wire on the MSD ignition box. I guess I dont understand where the white wire is needing to go. The instructions/diagram say it goes to the "points or electronic ignition amplifier(original coil wire)".

That white wire is key- it intercepts the signal from the EEC. By changing the value of the output, it changes timing.

Now to figure out where it goes.....

I guess I could call MSD.

Look at the diagram I posted- tomorrow I can peel back the harness and see which side it goes to on the coil primary, this should not be too hard..

So it would connect to one of the sides of the coil? I think I have the Blaster 3 coil.

I have a blaster coil also... Hold on, running out to the garage for a moment...

Mine has a white wire coming off the MSD to the coil harness, the white wire on the BTM connects to the white wire in the MSD6A...

lol....hmmm. The digram from MSD showed the yellow wire going to the white wire on the MSD. Any idea what the white wire from the MSD is for?

Call MSD tech, I don't want to cause you to short out your MSD6.. :thud:
