I went to visit a friend Sunday late afternoon to see his new condo and dog. It’s in Palatine by UPS. I passed it so I had to turn around and head back south. Well, coming to a stop light I see this fairly newer red ZX2 to my left with these two goth looking teen girls. The light turns green and the first 2 cars in front of me turn right at the light so I’m now the first car in line in the right lane. I see my friends condo entrance so I signal and slow down to turn right, and anyone without a front sway bar and skinnies know you have to creep around turns slowly and carefully. As I’m slowing down to make the turn, I see in my rearview mirror the red ZX2 coming up hard and fast! I mean she had to be going 80mph on Hicks Rd which is 40-45mph! She was cooking! And there was a car in the left lane maybe 10yards behind me so she couldn’t lane change to avoid me. While I was turning, I noticed she wasn’t slowly down one bit behind me! I had to drop it in 2nd to scamper the hell out of her way into the entrance. Man, that would have been bad! If she hit me at that speed, the Stang would be totaled and I’d might of gotten a ride to the hospital that day! Crazy kids! I bet she was on her cell phone changing radio stations :thud:

Sounds like when I got hit a few years ago by someone putting makeup on while driving.

No one pays attention anymore.

Up here in Wisconsin they enacted new regulations on teenage drivers and now statistics show they might actually be working, as fatal crashes involving teens that fall within the restrictions have dropped quite a bit. One of the rules is that new drivers (not sure of the age cutoff) cannot have "non-family" passengers, and can only drive after 6:00PM if it's to go to work, etc. SOunds rather restrictive but it has been working...
Glad you didn't get "tanked" Steven!!

Yep, I had my run in with a teen driver. few years back i was headed to a friends house and had not even gotten out of my subdivision when a 15year old with her lerners permit, and mother in the pass seat pulled out in front of me. It was a three way intersection, i was driving straight through with no stop, and the girl was stoped perpendicular to me with her left signal on. At the last second she pulled out in front of me paniced and stoped in the middle of the intersection. i was going slow enough to swerve to the right and i would have totally missed her if she would have not stoped. So of course there was no damage to her car, but the stang had a cracked bumper, head light and corner light. In the end this is how i payed for the cirvins ram air hood and stalker front bumper.
Sorry for the novel but i also Hate young drivers!

90Ramair, you have one nice looking Mustang man, looks like it's right off the showroom floor! It's scary with new drivers on the road every year! Greg will get to experience his son Mikey driving behind the wheel, but Mike will have the best teacher, can't wait to see Mike racing down at GLD next year!

Thanks! It isn't so pretty right now, i need to replace the pass fnt fender, windshield and fnt bumper now due to my own dumb ass driving...or should i say lack there of? Just after FFday im rebuilding the engine, while i have it torn apart, i will replace the body parts also. I feel ashamed to drive it now, i will have it at ffday though, not sure if ill race it yet...not sure on regulations for racing, (with my windshield cracked?) cant wait to get back into shape with a bit more power also!

The age should be jumped to 17 or 18. So many of these little kids are not capable of getting behind the wheel. Some states have it already and the new driver accidents are much lower.

Here's some food for thought.

Look at how the average adult drives ( like a total idiot ) and they are teaching their kids to drive????

As soon as my kids are comfortable driving (to my standard) they will learn on a manual tranny.

I have not yelled once with my son driving on his learners permit, instead I am trying to guide him to be a good driver.
