MMA Exclusive!! The real scoop on "ID WINN"

Last night at Oscar's there was talk of some dude with a silver SS ragtop that said somehting about being able to wack any "POS" in this parking lot, this supposedly happened on Friday night? Anyway, after hearing this story, I'm working the lane today at GLD, and what do I see??? :hehe:
I got to talking to this dude, he's pretty cool actually. He showed me under the hood, it's got a 9PSI Vortech with an aftercooler. He did tell me it dynoed at 550 RWHP. However, his first run was only 109 MPH, which seemed kinda weak for a car with that much power. I mentioned that he should be quite a bit faster than that, and asked him if he wanted to race my Mach1 (knowing I would lose but then I'd have some info to provide to Sammy (Horsesplay) and Andy (Boss LX) and anyone else who might want the scoop. So I got Peggy to line us up after he came to the front of the line. I had enough time to take pix of his car and then go wait for him to get to the front. Now please keep in mind- he did not run "clocks off" so his info is fair game, I'm not busting out anyone who was testing his car and didn't want his times known. Everyone there saw the results.
Here's the car, it's the guy for sure because he told me it was him, and it fit the description I heard about last night:

His run was like so:

60 foot: 2.131
8th mile ET: 8.297
8th MPH: 87.83
1/4 Mile ET: 12.61
MPH: 113.37

We had a discussion after the run, and while I did not mention a thing about what Sam runs or Andy runs, I told him I've got a Cobra that could wack him if this is the best he can do as far as MPH, and he wants me to bring it and meet him at GLD again. He even gave me his cell number.... :D

Anywas, I just thought it was quite a coincidence that the very next day after hearing about this guy, he shows up at GLD!!! :thud:

For what he has, i'm not impressed with his time or his MPH. There's NO way that thing is putting down 550 rwhp, not even close. There are plenty of stock LS1's, like z28kid said, that can run better MPH's and come very close to what he ran. Looks like this guy wont be getting a warm reception next time he's in oscar's.

Oh he had me covered easy with the Mach1, I'm not stupid. BUT, he needs a lot more than what I saw if he's going to be able to hang with my Cobra, and compared to all you guys, I am downright SLOW and I admit it!!! :D

I'm not gonna run 10's with that 80 shot. I'd have to step up to the 150 and get an awesome launch to be able to have a chance. I can handle
"mid level" elite status for the time being. :D

An SS with a 9psi huffer, he may be makin 550hp at the crank, but me thinks he's around 450 at the gym shoes. Kinda like me sayin my old Cobra was 575 hp but 482 at the rear wheels kinda thing. Man I'd take a look at that rear main and clutch before trouncin this guy with NiceAsp. :shifter: :rockon:

Oh of course I will HAVE to fix the car before I can really hammer it. The guy with the SS just got his car together, and it's plenty early. I'll have the car in top form before I match up with that SS. ;)

Greg, go talk to the guys at Fast Times, or call John or Steve or the other guy that works there. I flat out said 450hp TOPS after he rolled through, but there was the guy from fast times that put the s/c on the car himself at oscar's. he said he saw the dyno sheet. wouldn't say what it was, but was alot more than 450. he was a larger guy, like John, and supposedly also has an LS1 car.

Yeah, I figured you did. See if he'll say what it put out. Cause he said Speed Inc. did the tune, so i'm talking with my buddy who works there to bring up the info on the car/owner and see if they still have his dyno on record :) But now you know the truth on the blower ;)

Ok Chris, I have a little more info to share as provided by some people who have worked on the car very recently.
That car was owned formerly by an eye doctor, he sold it to the kid who has it now. It has a 400HP (before the blower) Lingenfelter aluminum motor, and there is about $25,000 in it now- aftermarket heads, intake and cam and of course the blower. Regarding the "550 RWHP" as I understand it, they are chasing tuning gremlins and belt slippage problems. In fact my source said it may only be making a 5-6 pounds of boost because they can't get the belt to stop slipping? I guess it ran 111-112 on motor (which sounds more like it should) so perhaps when they get the belt issues and tuning sorted out it will run like you would think a blown Lingenfelter should run. So I guess the jury is still out, but it was agreed that 113 MPH 1/4 mile traps are not close to what that car should be able to do when all the issues with it are sorted out.

Holy hell. Hahaha. Well that mph then seems ABOUT right for the weight of the car and a "400hp" motor. Thanks Greg. The financial backers of all racers appreciate such inside info :) Although when you take a "400hp" motor that was built for n/a use, 5-6lbs is about as much as you'd want to run in some cases. It may make 7-8lbs total for the compression it is.
