How much can an AOD handle stockly? I mean with a valve body and a converter. Could it take about 450-500hp?

That is about it for an AOD, 500hp. Do not I repeat do not shift hard into OD, always let off the throttle, major stock weak point.

Well I wont **** in to OD on it hard. I just want something that is easier to hit gears in but still something wiht OD so I can still cruse with the car. I would like a basic AOD with a Manual valve body and a stall but for not to much cash anyone got one? Anyone wanna trade a t-5 for AOD?

ewwww lol
just toss in a decent shift kit
the key to a good, long lasting aod is pretty simple. Lentech manual valvebody with od on a switch, converter, ditch the 1.5" aod od drum for a 2" aode drum/band setup, rebuild with 7-8 direct clutches, and have some fun :)

Ditchin the t-5 for a auto w/ the turbo eh? Id just get mild c-4 setup for it.

Yup so I can spool it on the line and launch under boost

I would say anything over 300 rwhp is pushing the stock AOD. It's a Lincoln trans remember. The weakest part is the input shaft. Another thing you can do is get the servo off a t-bird I think it is. That makes a very strong OD
Keep the stick and use a 2 step?

supercoupe, A, servo is the one to have...but its just a bandaid for the band/drum

You still would lose boost in between shifts. Auto's are the way togo on a turbo setup. 5speeds are fun though.

NO CHANCE

Joel,
I ran 11.79@114 with a mild AOD, and a 3400# street driven car. I just sold it a few weeks ago. Have gone to the Dynamic MM@ for a new 700rwhp combo.
I have a local builder, and can give you a list of what you need. I had 70 transbrake passes on the car when it ran 13's, and another 30 when it ran 12's/11's. It's gonna cost you roughtly 2K+.
PM me if you want more details-
Jerry

I could keep the t-5 but I have a feeling that it will blow to peices. I can get a bit of spool outta a 5 speed with my 2 step and retart the timing while on the 2 step. But an auto would be better boost threw out the run and launching off a t brake with full boost would be fun.
