View Full Version : 421 rwhp / 420 rwt
Pete has done it again.
This setup previously made 365 rwhp/355 rwtq
'99 4.2L 5-spd, Powerdyne, CNC'd heads, 211/.523 cam, 65mm TB, 1.8 RRs, JBA headers, custom X off-road, 75mm Pro-M, 42#s, Mach I duals, Ripper, PHP 8.8, Steeda UCAs, LCAs, 3.73s, Alum driveshaft, 245/45R17s on Silver Bullitts
11.8 @ 116 (on ET Streets)
365 rwhp/355 ft/lbs
He just added:
a BBK 70mm TB, the 90mm SCT MAF, 60#s and a new blower pulley
and made 421 rwhp / 420 rwt with fuel delivery issues around 5500 rpm.
Is that with stock style (hyper) pistons? Boost level?
It is a stock 4.2 bottom end.
He is running about 10#'s of boost.

That's Mean Kirk! :shifter:
He has just raised the bar again. 462rwhp and 460rwt
Fresh Focus pump and some bucket mods to improve fuel pressure.
Some more tuning with A/F and spark.
A couple of gallons of 100 octane mixed with my pump gas as insurance.
And some intercooler in a white bottle compliments of Compu-Car. It was a 25 dry shot.
Just can't seem to break my "weak" stock shortblock.

  You betcha Kirk!
Stock short block , ported heads & intakes mild cam little gas to cool.
I think he has more that can be tweaked out.
He made a pass last night.
11.3 @ 122 :shifter:

he's gettin' there! :D
i take it he got kicked out after that pass? i think he was the guy who refused to put a roll bar in right?
Yes & he popped his engine at the top end of the track.
He is going to put another in. Needs more fuel delivery, the 300lph focus pump was not keeping up.

i was wondering when that engine was gonna breathe its last breath... regardless though, quite impressive. :thewave:
Well it was a combination of things.
He does not know if the NO2 fired, temps were rising and he was detotnating at the top of the track & drove it through the traps.
He got the time & will rebuild & be back. same setup.

he's not gonna put stronger internals in there while he's got it apart? i guess the stock stuff didn't hold up too badly, so i guess that wouldn't be the worst choice either.
The stock parts did not fail. All he is considering is maybe different pistons.
