Not sure where to go with the motor in my 89. The bottom end will be a stock rebuild. I was leaning towards a Kenne Bell because I have a friend who has one that is selling his. It is for a 94-95 so the snout and the front acc. brackets are different, so i would have to spend some cash there, and those pieces are rather pricey. A kenne bell for my car is around $3300. My buddy ran low 13's with just the kenne bell on his 94GT vert.
With that said I was looking into getting a standard 5psi vortech, a set of good aluminum heads (leaning towards TFS),TFS or Cobra intake, with the rest of the supporting cast (maf,tb,inj, etc).
Which route would you go if it was your car? Which heads would you get? Whats a good cam for a blown street car? Keep in mind there is a budget here, what it is exactly I am not sure of. My goal is to run consistent low 12's, streetable, with suspension setup for more cornering than drag racing.
All of your opinions are appreciated. Thanks

sounds exactly like what I want with my car. You shouldn't need a power adder to run those times. Just choose your heads cam, and intake properly and you will be set. The power adder will just be icing on the cake.

I thought I could get those time without, but its going to be there anyway. I have always wanted a blower, and I am going to get one! Cant wait to feel the boost!!!

If you go with a Vortech, get a cam that favors exhaust. As for heads, man take your pick! Just remember that BALANCE is very important here as far as planning. If you plan to run boost, go with 64CC heads. (lower compression). Pick the cam and the gears and the intake set with all factors in mind- A blower can mask shortcomings in the intake. A long runner intake will provide more low-end power, a short runner intake is for higher numerical gears and a more radical cam.
Obviously my Cobra is a lot different than a '89 GT, but for comparison sake, it runs low 12's on motor with a 347 and small-valve GT40X heads. Drop that motor into your GT and you would run 11's on motor only...

To add: When I dynoed my car last year, it didn't make a ton of HP from those restrictive heads, but the torque was impressive. I like Torque, it makes for a strong pull. :D

Thanks for the good info, I am not to familiar with blowers yet, so that helped alot. I have a E cam laying around, I will have to look the specs up on it, Thanks again.

the e-cam is not a split duration cam so it won't do much at all. I would get a novi 1k and or a set of edlebrock performer/rpm heads. Best price and performance and quality for the $ spent

I was looking at the TFS stage 1 cam, I have read its a pretty decent cam. Anyone here used it, or know anything about it. The price is nice also!
