My red car was speed density and it ran great with ported GT40P's and intake.

Well I almost have my car in the 12's with low amount of mods. All I need is a good launch.
Explorer Inktake, 65mm tb, emission bumps removed out of the heads, removed smog crap, shortie headers, o/r x-pipe, flows, and 1.7 cobra rr. Still have the SD and stock 3.08 gear with x2c control arms and BFG DR's.

My hatch runs mid 12's on a drag radials & doesn't 60'. It has heads, cam, intake, tb, & factory cat-back exhaust. The car ran low 13's last year with intake, roller rockers, throttle body & 3.73 gears with drag radials.

what is a good choice of cams?

you'll get all kinds of opinions there....basically anything that retains a stockish vac signal will work fine. Generally this means a small duration cam with a small amount of overlap (wide lsa). The baby crower grind has been a speed density mainstay for years
With people running 8's on "stock cams" it kinda makes you want to spend money else where

The SD cam was I think the best cam that came in the factory 5.0's. I would leave it and spend money on other things.
My only issue with sd is how it hesitates below 3k when you floor it. Or do I have another issue?

you know, I was also thinking of ditching my speed density in favor of a carbed set up. Now I'm thinking of keeping it and just doing the heads, intake and tb like everyone else seems to do with the speed density. I'm also doing a t5 swap and have the aod out of the car already.
