I'm looking for some tips from anyone running a 351W based motor in an 87-93 stang.
I'm looking for advice on K-members, motor-mounts, hoods, exhaust systems.
I'm building my car right now, and I'm looking for any tips or advice I can find.
Thanks for looking!

any K member should work good with motor mounts from a 302 block.
you will need at least a 2" cowl hood with a carb setup.
the headers will be a tight fit no matter what brand or size.
I don't know how much power your going to make or what you are doing with the car, but I have a lot of parts laying around from my old combos with a 351 block. headers, oilpan, dist, motor mounts, short blocks, SVO 351 tall deck block, single & dbl plane intakes, ect.

393.........vic jr intake, 2 inch spacer, QFT 850, Hedman 1 3/4 LT's, and home-built solid mounts, and moroso 7qt pan, mini starter. had to put the converter bolts in through the starter hole with the pan on the motor. other than that it pretty much dropped right in.

Holcomb Motorsport carries all the swap parts in a package
a freind of mine has a 351 in his car. he is using the cervini 4" cowl hood and can't get an air cleaner on. he is using solid box style mounts with a vic jr. intake a 1/2" spacer and a 1000 hp holley.

i've welded my stock mounts, vic jr intake, 2 inch spacer, and a QFT Qseries 850 and i know i can fit mine under a 4" cowl hood. and i'm still using a stock k-member and a-arms. :dunno:
and this is still using a 4" element K&N filer on top of all that

home made solid motor mounts, stock K member, 408 with Vic Jr and it sits under the stock '82 hood & scoop. I had to grind the cast fins off my rack, and the 7 qt Canton pan sits almost on it (and the 5 qt stocker DID sit on it...)

418. HAL K member, (basically their complete strut setup front end).
Holcomb 3/4" drop solid motor mounts, (with their engine strap gig).
Canton oil pan. Cheapo aftermarket steering rack. About 1/4" between rack and oil pan.
Running super vic w/1" super sucker spacer, and 950 (Biggs), holley. Drop base moroso air cleaner. Advertised as a 4" cowl hood, but more like a 6" (measuring it).
So, Markstang, you got a used SVO 351 block laying around? Is it in good shape?

what hood do you have?
i'm currently using a stock steel hood with a snorkel on it. i do know that it would still fit under a 4" cowl though.

C'mon Markstang, give up the goods on what you got! Sounds like you have an eager market for some of your stuff.

I have 1" drop mounts for mine and we had to make spacers to build them up maybe a 1/4 inch. That was really the only problem we had though. Thebest thing is with teh drop mounts and drop air cleaner everything cleared the stock hood.
