Last night i was changing the oil on my `94 Chevy Corsica and in between draining the oil I was greasing my ball joints. Well, I was greasing the lower passenger side and I gave it two squeezes then splat. The rear seal of the ball joint burst oozing a good size glob of grease onto the inner rim. I drove the car and couldn’t notice any difference. What will be the symptoms when the ball joint is really bad? I know worse case I can lose the wheel while driving! I called Autozone and they have a 3month warranty ball joint for $19.99 or a life time one for $31.99. Not too bad, but how difficult is it replacing one of these? I took a quick glance at the Hayes book and it didn’t mention that a special tool was needed to pop the joint out?

Grease coming out is normal when its overfull, dont worry about it. As long as you keep them greased and dont hear any clunking or odd noises coming from the front you should be fine. You can check for loosness by raising it up and grabbing the top and bottom of the tire and try wiggling it to check for loosness.

For replacing I am not sure what setup that car has, but most need to be pressed in and out with a balljoint press, some GM's are bloted in though.

Thanx Adam, i was hoping you'd chime in on this :thumbs_up So i'm ok, nothing to really worry about? I'll just grease that one every oil change instead of every other one.
