I have 7,000 miles on my 2003 GT. i have been dyno'd at 264.5rwhp and 302.5rwt. i have a UPR blu-thunder shifter. also 4.30 gears. Right now i put back on my Bullitt rims and street tires, getting ready for winter
When i gun it in 1st and grab 2nd, i can't tell if my wheels are spinning (breaking lose) or my clutch is slipping? I would stomp it in 1st, grab 2nd hard at 6k and the tach will slowly climb then shoot quickly to redline as if the tires are now grabbing. Is it possible if the clutch is going with so little miles? This only happens when driving hard and only when slamming 2nd gear. :dunno:

Mine slipped last time at GLD with only 11000 miles on it.
Next time it happens wiggle the steering wheel to se if you back-end slids a little bit.

Get going a round 30mph and put it in 4th or 5th gear and put the gas to the floor, and watch the tach to see if it goes up with out the car accelerating. I used to have thing with my old Black GT that I always thought the clutch was slipping until I put a new FMS clutch in, I think mine was all mental though because my Vert still has the original and its got way more power than my old GT did and my clutch is fine. Give that a try!!!!

I'll try that Adam, same with your idea Mike to see. I just did LT's and i definitely don't want to fight with them to do a clutch anytime soon :thud:
So if i'm in 5th at 30mph and give it WOT, the symptom will be the tach moving but not the speedo nor the car?

When I used to work on cars my boss said from a dead stop if you put it in 5th rev it up and dump the clutch if your clutch is good it should stall out.

Don't know if it's true but that's what he said.

It should stall, but I think that may be alittle harder on things :thumbs_up :shifter:

But with the 4.30 gears would it make a difference? What if it doesn't stall?

Just do what Adam suggested Steven. If your clutch is slipping it usually will do it in the higher gears, not 1-2. Can't you turn around and go look for tiremarks on the street or look in the rearview? :D

I took my GT to work today, and got in early so the overflow parking lot was empty. I laid into the car and left a nice patch in 2nd gear, so it was me, not my clutch.
