Ok guys, this is important so please do this.

I was at Byron yesterday and track officials asked everyone to take a petition and get it signed by as many as possible. Illinois law is trying to make sure that all Race tracks - I think maybe only drag racing, but pretty sure it is all types of racing close at 6:00 p.m. This is a new law trying to get passed. So if you are a racing fan or a racer you should be a little concerned. I personally am not to worried because of the huge racing scene alone in the chicago land area alone. Here is a copy of the petition so please print as many as possible and have it signed and sent back to Byron Dragway.

Byron does not have night racing anyway, correct?

I know who you are BTW, and it would be wise for you to not attempt to start spamming here. Your anti-GLD rants don't sit well with me. ;)

They will never get the town to allow it, this is old news.

I found nothing on the Illinois legislative site regarding this. Sources other than "the guys at the track?"

Actually the land that the dragway sits on is controlled by Ogle County, Illinois. It's the county that has prohibited the weekday/night racing. Ron Leek, who owns Byron, has been working to have the land annexed to the city of Byron. If this occurs, then the rules governing the track will likely change.

Regardless of venue, the ban on night racing in Illinois will very much hurt the sport. If anything we need more time and places to race in this area. I was at Byron yesterday and they had 500+ cars racing.

Yeah, lets ban night racing at the tracks and force more people to the street. Sounds stupid to me.

I agree
it would be nice to have more tracks and more time to race.
I think it would help cut down on street racing(it will never go away)

buts thats just me

And as for byron I have been to that track maybe 50 times(before I found out about GLD) and I have never really cared for it

I mean come on we stood in line for 1.5 hrs yesterday to get a burger
