I want to take the cover off and check out the inside of the differential. I thought it would be a good time to refresh my lube anyway. (I read up on the gear swaps but even though one guy had pretty good instructions I can't bring myself to try it.) Don't have the xtra cash to have them done right now either. Anyway, just wanted to refresh the rear and was wondering if you guys all buy your lube and friction mod. from the dealer or if there is somewhere else I can get Royal purple or whatever you guys use.

Thanks for any info.

I have been using Redline synthetic 80W140 for many years, I used it in my 91 that had a Detroit Locker in it with no problems and I now use it in the Cobra which has a Torsen in it. With the Redline and the differential I use, I do not use the friction modifier. I don't drag race my car that often, but I do many autocrosses and open track events where heat is a major concern, and the Redline fluid has performed well, meaning no failures. I order it from Pegasus Racing supplies in New Berlin.

Can I get Royal purple at a parts place or would I have to order it?
Pep Boys now distributes it. I bought mine at a decent price @ www.karlracing.com, i believe the guy i dealt with was Jerry.

I use Valvoline and a friction modifier. Go to the local parts store and get what you need:)

any brand/ kind will work if its the correct weight oil.

just add some friction modifer unless you have a spool.
