I'm an idiot. I know some of you thought that already but I have confirmed it.
Me and my clutch problems... Sigh. I had mentioned in another post that C/F sent me a free clutch. It came yesterday. I happened to be looking over the paperwork. Found this document.

I am sure that I have been installing the t/o bearing per the INCORRECT picture. Those clips on the shift fork, I thought that you put the bearing collar under them so they can hold the T/O bearing in place.
What's worse? I am 99% sure I installed the one with the SPEC clutch in the same fashion... :thud:
Well on the bright side, they sent me a $569.00 (ok, that's list price) DF920830 D/F clutch that is a step up from the DF021057 I sent to them.
Now all I need to do is assemble it properly...

At least you hopefully have the problem figured out, and you can admit when you made a mistake. Hopefully all the problems are behind you:)
"Men don't read the directions" Favorite quote of the wife. :D
In all seriousness I hope this solves your issues.

They wouldn't have included the paper unless several others had made the same mistake. Being a techie type I don't RTFM but sometimes I find the answer when I do. :thumbs_up

ooohh bummer. Better pull the trans down and correct that. I too made that mistake many many many years ago when I did a clutch on my *cough* *cough* Firebird. Clutch only lasted 1200 miles and it went ka-bluey

Can't you write a javascript that will fix the bearing for you :p
You need a winter project anyway, right?

Hmmm... maybe I can try that... :D
This is too funny.
We have been fighting an install at work for two days.
We started over & followed the Directions exactly & it worked .
I just LMAO at that point. :D

You know Greg, I think I did the same thing with mine too now that I see that picture. Oh well, I'm pulling the motor this weekend to replace the stock T5 front bearing retainer with a steel aftermarket one anyways so I guess I'll fix that too now.

well crap... is the FMS HD throwout bearing a self aligning bearing???
Nevermind.... found a better pic and that's how I did it. Sorry to hear about your probs Greg. I feel your pain. My trans was in and out of my car 4 times last year within about 4 months trying to find a vibration.
If you replaced the bearing retainer recently, did you measure the pre-load to be sure its shimmed right? That's another thing I did wrong, I wound up not checking the depth of the bearing cup with the new retainer and didn't have enough preload... Just thought I'd let you know as long as the trans is going to be out you may want to check it. A lot of people I've spoken to didn't know about this one...
