If I currently have a 8.8 rear with strange 31 spline rear axles and c clip elim. can I remove these and purchase new 31 spline 5 lug axles? Then get the disc brake components?
If this will work, will this increase or decrease the track measurements?
Does the location of the caliper interfere at all with types of wheels?
What is the standard size rear rotor that is used in a 5 lug conversion?

Thanks for any input

If you use an SN95 conversion I think it increases your track length by 3/4". So if you use the SN95 rear disc setup you need a deeper offset for your rear rims if you want a stock appearing rear track.
I used to have a file with all of the spec's but I can't find it!

I believe rear rotor size is 11", you can use any rim. It's when you change to a bear and wilwood system you need the bigger rims.

All 1994+ V6/GT Mustangs use a 10.5 inch rotor. The Cobra model uses a 11.65 inch rotor. A 17 inch wheel will pretty much clear any rear caliper/rotor combo used on a Fox including the Baer, Wildwoods, etc...

If you run a 9 inch or wider wheel you will want to retain the stock track. If you can pick up a set of Strange 5 lug eliminator axles in the Fox length, then you could go with the North Cobra caliper brackets for the V6/GT calipers, then pick your self up a set of 94+ rear calipers and your set.

All the rear Calipers are the same on the 1994+ Cobra, GT. and V6, and even the Baer and more expensive kits. They are a single piston Varga caliper. However the Cobra uses a specific pad and a larger caliper bracket for the larger rotors. Hopefully this will clear up a few things for you!

Good luck! :thumbs_up

Your best bet is to decide on what rear brakes you want to you first. Then you can order the rear axles that will have the correct length to work with the brakes you chose.
