This is what I run in the 1/8th:
60'-1.698
1/8 et-7.98
1/8 mph-87mph.
OK, I am trying to set some goals for next year and devise a plan of attack for the best way to get there and I was wondering with my current 60' and 1/8th times, what should my theoretical 1/4 times be?? I am trying to figure out of my car is laying over a bit on the top end (I think it is) or if its running what it should be and I can move on with my planned mods...Thanks for any and all help/advise....

Well with my set uop...stock cam & crank, untouched cobra intake & P-Heads, with that 1/8 mile times i was going mid 12's, now with a better laucnh and 4.30 gears was 90-91 mph in the 1/8 and 1/8 time was 7.3-7.4, now going 11.80's....@3100 race weight, and pushing 300-330 horsepower at rear wheels

My best run is 12.66@103 in the 1/4. Again, that run was into a 25mph headwind. But I do normally run 105-106mph....I have just been doing some looking around and it seems like most cars running my 1/8th times are running in the 12.3@108-109 range..So I guess I'm just thinking outloud more than anything right now...Thanks again guys..

I don't know too many cars that only trap 103 and run 12.6. Usually a 21 to 23 MPH gain is what a stick car that is in that range will do. So 87 in the 1/8 would be 108 to 110.

Well my 12.6 @103 was into a 25mph headwind. My previous best ET was 12.9@105..

I know you are just trying to see where you would be on a calm day. I think 110mph going by the 87.

Thanks again guys. I think its pretty safe to say I need to work on my driving and chassis a bit before I go and start throwing parts at the motor to go faster...

it sounds like you are driving fine those are good numbers and your 60 ft is not that bad. so throw some parts at it. hehe

i dunno.....with my old 310 and hyd cam i ran a best of 12.521 @ 107. my 60' and 1/8th times were very similar. i too often wondered where other people were picking up 5-10 mph at the same et, but it basically all comes down to suspension, gearing, trans, and driver. fwiw, average times were 12.6 @ 105

I kinda figured I will have to work on the car a bit to get mor ET out of it. I thought the same thing I see guys running simular or a bit quicker ETs than I am but with 108-110 mph traps, so I was wondering if I was leaving something on the table with my lower 105 trap...Thanks for all the help guys...

I think you guys have it the wrong way. You're not leaving anything on the table persay. Rather, those other guys with the higher mph are losing ET, not gaining MPH.
On another note, welcome John Leslie Jr. Great job at Joliet this year!
