On my car you dirty pigs

90 LX 8.8 rear
I am doing a search but I can't find it exactly. Is it a bolt that you use just a wratchet on with no socket?
I looked at the rear and the only thing I think might be the filler plug is on the pass. side of the housing, is this right?

thanks for any help.

Smells good too, I bet.

I could never stand the smell of gear lube.

If you want, you could swing over and blast the cover before you paint it.

No problem. The offer's always open for the blast cabinet. Todd's used it a few times already.

See, you should have picked up a new rear cover with a drain and fill plug right on it. Then there is no need to take the cover off.
If your posi is failing and you just want a cheap swap, I still have my stock one with rebuilt clutches laying in the basement. Make an offer if interested.

I just finished the tear-down on the '87's axle.

Wayne, when it comes time to re-assemble it I'll let you know and you can assist me with the gear install.

Yeh, I didn't think of getting a new cover. But on the bright side, the rear makes no noise and lays down not 1 but 2 stripes! lol
In spring I'll be getting the 3.73's put in so maybe I'll go with the new cover then.

i got a BRAND NEW Trickflow aluminum cover for sale.... $130..

Actually, It would work better(posi) if you didn't add friction modifier

what you read about the clutches is true. However if they are slipping then no f.m. would help them as to not slipping. If it's working then great.

Fritz - I would really like to help with the gear install and see what it all entails, I just hope you do it when I am off of work.

I'm sure that can be arranged. I am shooting on getting it back together before Christmas so once it's all cleaned and ready to go, we'll work around your schedule. :thumbs_up
