I just got the needed parts to install & activate a two-step on the auto.

Gotta love being connected to Jerry W. when it comes to the 4R70W and tuning. He found a way to do this on the auto. It's no problem on a manual but takes a little engineering on the auto.

He provided the EEC theory behind it & I may have the application figured out.

Now I just need the time to install & test it. :D

Extreeemly Cool there Kirk! Direct line to Jerry and a bonus program! :shifter:

I just hope it works as designed.

Normally it's bad practice to fool the EEC but in this case it's the only way.

Will there be more info when you find out it works?

Yes,

Basically SCT can make any 99+ 5spd an electronic two-step with a neutral rev limiter and a few settings in the EEC.

In order to do this on an auto you have to do a little trickery. But since the auto is electronically controlled by the EEC it's possible. It has a DTR that tells the EEC what gear is selected so we will exploit that to our advantage.

So how does it keep the line pressure up and the torque converter fooled when told to "miss a gear" by the EEC? Sounds Cool Kirk. :thumbs_up

I am actully just making it think it's in Neutral as the manual does.

i feel dumb, what's a two step?

Basically it holds the rpms at a set point even with the accelerator to the floor for consistant launch rpms.

Sounds COOL!!!

computer transbrake sort of???

Kirk

Kinda,
Well not really like a trans brake.

It does not alter the physical state of the trans.
Makes the EEC think the trans is in neutral so a neutral rev limiter can be activated.
It is then disabled as soon as the EEC detects the trans is not in neutral.

So basically as soon as you let off the brake, (Which I will use to activate this) the new circuit that was telling the EEC it's in neutral is turned off & right to full WOT.

On a manual it's forward speed sensing that disables the neutral rev limiter.

All pretty cool stuff.

that sounds pretty awesome kirk! :D any idea what rpm you're gonna set it at to begin with?

Kirk

Not yet But I can easily make that change.

You'll be a bracket terror with that setup once you get it dialed in. :thumbs_up

Tim,
When you go with the SCT you can have it set too. :D

so is this just an SCT program? or are there a few other associated parts to go along with it too?

Kirk

On a manual transmission it's just a parameter in the SCT tune.
For the auto however it takes some parts & electronic magic.
