Ok last night I discovered that the bushing in the x2c upper is 14mm and the stock bolt and body holes are12mm. The stock uppers are the same size as the x2c but they have 6 dimples on the inside of the bushing to center it on the bolt. I'm gonna finshish up the lowers. My options for the uppers are:

1. Put it togeather and see how it works. If it's not noisy don't worry about it.

2. Get some 14mm grade 10.9 bolts and drill out the body holes to match.

The uppers arn't hard to take off so I can do option two later if option one fails without a lot of extra work. Just looking for opinions but I gotta get the car together for now. I'm a bit  that they did this. Are the GT uppers 14 mm? Wouldn't the holes be bigger if they were or would they just drill them larger when they do a run of GT's on the line?

on my gt both the uppers and lowers are 14mm

I ran into that problem with my lower but it was the other way, holes and bolts 14mm but insert on lower control arms 12mm so I got smaller grade 8 bolts and used them but I am either going to get new inserts or drill them out when I do my rear springs and air bag

if you can I dont see a problem drilling out the tq box mounts

Doesn't matter right now, bolt owned again, the drivers lower is frozen to the bushing insert. The rubber is torn up a bit from the amount of crumbs on the garage floor. Kirk came over and we fought with it but it just isn't going to move. I'm taking it to Hillerich Monday morning so it will be done. I think I will drill the torque boxes and get some larger bolts but for now we just put it back togeather. I'm beat right now and I still need to put the wheels. :thud:

Update, forgot the 3rd solution, contact X2C.

They are shipping the correct sleeves for 12mm bolts to me. That's a much better solution than driling out the torque boxes.

The uppers arn't hard to change and I should be able to drop one at a time and change the bushing sleeves easily.

Cool.

So you are getting new sleeves for both bolts in the uppers (4 total)?

The other end of the uppers where it connects to the diff housing uses the stock bushings and sleeves. I need new bushings/sleeves for where they mount to the torque boxes. BTW have you checked your upper bolt size?

That would require jacking and removal. No I have not, but if yours are 12mm I would assume mine are too.

So took my first drive around with both upper and lower arms installed. The rear end is much tighter and theres no slop at all. Driving around on surface roads up to 40 or so there's not much more noise. Can't wait to try them out at the track.

So when do you expect the correct sized sleeves for the uppers?

They said they were shipping them out, I assume gound shipping. I'm gone till Thursday night anyway so I don't need 'em till Friday. I'll have computer access so I'll have a few minutes to check in while in St. Paul. Gonna hit the 70's there on Thursday so that's not too bad.

I sent them an email & I'm still waiting for a response.

Now that I got a chance, driving impressions part 2.

Wow, the rear really feels planted. The steering even feels more responsive 'cause the slop is gone from the rear. Also there's almost no knocking sound from the rear, I can hear the uppers shift a bit on the bolts but most of the knock was caused by the stock lowers hitting something when combined with the new uppers. It corners better for sure.

Kirk, I replied to the shipping email and did a contact from the web site to be sure.

I had the same problem when I installed mine. I just drilled out the torque boxes. If you look closely at the stock ones you'll see that they are a little sloppy too even with the dimples.

Ok so 3 weeks on and no parts or further word from X2C so I've decied to drill out the torque box holes. I checked it out if you unbolt the bracket that holds the brake line you can carefully move it to get it out of the way for drilling.
