I have been hearing through the grapevine that the Battery Tender is the way to go for winter storage... any opinions / experience with these? I want to make sure it's worth the 50 bucks before I go out and buy one. Are there any places in town here (Milwaukee) where I could get one?

I have one for my jetski.
Once a month I hook it up for 24hrs and it keeps it ready to go.

I say why waste the money? Pull out your battery and put it in the basement. Charge it up before you put it back in.

My battery sits in an unheated garage and It always started up fine in the spring. I'll usually start my car twice over the winter.

As long as you put a battery away with a full charge it should be ok for the winter.. however, things like your radio memory will slowly drain down a battery over time.. If a battery goes dead it could possibly freeze in the Winter and then it will be junk in Spring.. I have a battery tender on my Mach for Winter storage.. It maintains the battery to the proper charge as needed.. Plus it is less headaches and work in Spring.. I just turn the key and there is no extra work involved in removing and replacing the battery.. I would recommend it for long term storage...
