My girl has a 2000 Ford Focus SE sedan with the 2.0 Zetec DOHC (roar). She has 67k on it and it still has the original belt on it. What's the average life of a serpentine belt? It doesn't look bad at all, no tearing or glaze. How long should i expect it to last? Plus, how the hell do you change one on these 2.0's? I can't even see the tensioner  Do i have to go from underneath the car and/or remove the wheel well skin to get access to it? Has anyone done one before on these cars? :dunno:

Steve as long as there are no cracks in the belt you should be fine. If you want I can look in a book at work and send yuo the belt diagram and that will show the tensioner location. Let me know

It wouldn't hurt to put a timing belt on it either. I would change it every 60,000 if you are planning on keeping the car.....

Yeah, what he said. Simple maintenance that will save you alot of money and head aches down the road.

Sweet!, thanx Joel and Kirk for those instructions! They will definitely make things easier. I would like to change the timing belt, but that looks tough, plus how do i keep the cams from moving once the belt is off?

To change the timing belt you will need the crank stop and cam holding specials tools.
