finally got the car out for the first time this year. after a few easy runs (12.4's-12.1) to make sure everything was cool I decided to stand on it and see what I could run so I set the the two step at 5500 to launch and thats when funny things happened. I snapped the rear axel right out of the housing about 5 feet from the line and went right towards the tree. well I guess the motor's making some power. was anyone from here at byron sat.

Glad you and your car are ok, these things can turn out very bad.
So what's your plan for upgrading the rear to handle all that power?

I pulled the rearend out last night. bent the backing plate up pretty good and tore up the bearings. seeing as it was the original factory stuff everything is going. I'm thinking either strange or moser 31 spline axles, c clip elims. spool and 4.56 gear
now I just gotta tell the wife I broke $1500 in parts on the first day out

if you going to to go with a spool I would just get the 33 spline setup and be done with it

Your first day of the year went better than mine did two years ago man...
(two years ago today in fact!)
I left for the track with a supercharged Cobra that could run 11's on radials, and came home on a flatbed with an exploded motor. :(
Had to explain to the wife that I need a new engine... :D :D
You'll be back man. Figure this- when **** like this happens, you grasp the opportunity to make your car better/stronger. :thumbs_up

thanks guys. breaking stuff sucks but it's all part of racing. I guess it's not an exciting day unless you run new times or break something
