I am pulling my motor apart to see if I have a possible blown head gasket. I'm just wondering while the heads are off of the motor if I should have the seals and valve guides freshened up? Does anybody have any idea how much this might cost? They are iron heads...should they be decked? I've never really dealt with a machine shop before so this is all new for me.

My bad. Ed Curtis is who I thought you were talking about. He seems to think AFR's are the end all head

change the seals if you have cash....if you want to spend some more come down and buy this pair of fully worked e7's I have laying around...I'd be willing to deal ;)

I never overheated the motor. It wouldnt hurt to have them check though. I am going to do some calling around today. Thanks.

To be safe you might wanna have them checked but I doubt you would have any problems. If they were aluminum then I'd definatly have them checked.

How many miles are on them? If you are running N/A you can have a little fun in the machine shop like milling the heads new v.j. might wanna have the spring pressure checked ect. You can pick up some power by having them milled and a good comp. valve job
