By next week I should have a fox body. I was interested in getting different wheels, but they are 5 luggers. What would be involved in converting the car to a 5 lug setup? Is it worth it or should I try to find 4 lug version of the wheels I want?

I converted my '87 project car to 5-lug. I went to the auto parts store and got '86 SVO rotors for the front. With the back, I just picked up a whole different 8.8 that was already sporting 5-lug axles.

2 1991 Lincoln Mark VII rotors and Ford Racing makes an axle kit. Or if you can find 2 ranger axle shafts (2 driver side if I remember right) from mid to late 80s Ranger.

This car has an auburn posi rear end. What spline rear end would that be... 31?

If you use SVO or LSC rotors as Fritz and Darrel said it will work and is easier to do but your choice of wheels is limitied. You wont be able to run center caps with any cobra wheels except the 94-97, and I believe you can run any 94-98 GT wheel without problem. Just no Bullets, 98 Cobra, 99 cobra, Cobra R's, Newer Saleen wheels, and the 18inch Cobra R's. If you change the front spindles to 94-95 it has the same track as the fox bodies do alreay if you use 96-98 stuff it stick out 8mm further and can cause clearence issues. You would also need to change to SN style brakes as well which is a nice upgrade anyway. You will need some fiitings and the banjo bolts from the SN to make the brake hoses work. As for the rear you will have to get 31 spling to match you rearend. The axels in the 94-Up stangs are alittle longer than the stock axels are. When I did my car I used 94 spindles and brakes and ranger axels and drums in the rear. I will be changing to 31 spline axels in the rear and going with the SN axles because I think the rear needs to be out alittle more. Go to the corral and theres a ton of info there as well. Good Luck, and I have a set of 94 SN spindles and brakes if interested!

Speaking of the center cap issue, you actually can't even run the Cobra wheels with the early style rotors. I'm not sure about the Cobra R wheels but I know the Cobra wheels (not sure what year but they look very similar to the cobra R wheel) does not work. I've experienced this on one of my cars. The wheels seem to fit fine (except for the center cap) but the car drove really crappy. I took the car to the alignment shop figuring the car just needed an alignment. They called me later and told me that the front wheels were bent. Well, to them they looked bent anyway. Come to find out, the opening in the center of the wheel is smaller than the center of the rotor so the wheel wasn't seating against the rotor and was crooked.

98 Cobras are what I run, you have to have the SN setup on the front or like Darrell said they wont seat correctly. I have that set up if interested.

Im not sure I have never dealt with a Steeda wheel. If the rotors are different than the SVO and LSC and the wheel will seat flush on the rotor you should be fine. Are those axels 31 spline?????

I put Bullitts on my 88 and went with 95 spindles on the front and swapped rear ends. The "new" rear end had disk brakes already on it, depending on which way you go the braking system can become an issue. It's been a couple of years but as I recall it took lots of research and the project went over budget, as usual! I have some 5-lug axles for sale if they will fit your Auburn (28 spline)

I have been informed that the auburn is in fact a 28 spline.
