I know there is more in there then needed to know, but I just copied and pasted. Anyway, I was looking at a brand new Powerdyne 9psi in my Jegs catalog for just over $2,000. Not a bad deal. Would 9psi be a safe boost to run on that setup? Also, what kind of upgrades would I want to do to the fuel system besides possibly getting 36# injectors? How would I modify the computer? I am new to this supercharger thing, and definitely new to supercharging an electronically controlled V8.

If it were me, I'd look for a used Vortech before I bought a new powerdyne, if the Powerdyne is a belt-driven style (internal drive belt versus gear drive)

As for the electronics part of the question, I run the EFI Systems Programable Management System or PMS for short. Several guys here run them also. I went with the 3-bar MAP sensor and also the AFM Powerpipe for the blower inlet. I had the car tuned by Bob Kurgan (Kurgan Motorsports)

The PMS with the MAP sensor allows very flexible tuning options. Much more precise than a FMU and BTM setup.

You will want to ditch the mass-air adjuster as that will conflict with the PMS if you do go that route.

You may also wish to go with a 255LPH in-tank pump and run a T-Rex in-line pump.

I'd go Vortech to. For 2800 you could get this from AFM.

Used s-trims go for 1300-1800 all day long, go with that. Powerdynes have been great blowers, I have had 3 powerdyne equipped stangs and never had any issues with the internal belt. Powerdynes are more of a daily driven, not raced, street blower. Boost is a measure of restriction. For instance we both have 306's and I have fully ported TW heads and ported TF intake, a blower making 9 lbs boost on your car would only make 6lbs on my car providing my heads, intake and exhaust flow better than yours. With a powerdyne, 9 lbs is rated on a completely stock 5.0 car right down to the cats and exhaust. You would be lucky to see 6lbs on yours. With a s-trim you could get the solid 9lbs of boost you want. 9 lbs would be more than safe on your car as long as you have enough fuel.

The Vortech is the hot set up. Your also going to want an extra fuel pump.

Cool. Basically I'm only looking to run about 9 or 10lbs, nothing too insane.

Not starting a pissing match but my opinion would be a novi 1000.

well vortech has always been good to me, just a new one is out of my price range.

You said in your first post you are new to the supercharging game :p

I have used one vortech, on a 6 cylinder, the whole kit cost me about 3,700 bucks. It was a great blower and lasted at least 70k miles without needing to be rebuilt.. Im not sure what their average lifespan is but I thought that was good... then I sold the car. Friends of mine have used vortechs on their cars too, and they had the same success. When I said I was new I meant as far as figuring out what boost I should run, and electronics setup. For my supercharger kit that I installed, I did most of the work, then I took it over to Fast Times in Milwaukee and we tuned it there. I do not know anything about tuning, the computer controlled aspect of supercharging, or deciding how much boost to use. The kit I bought was preset to run 4psi on a bone stock motor with no mods other then intake, dual exhaust, and 28lb injectors.
