My mothers car, a 93 Sable with the 3.8 has a weird starting problem after the engine is warm. Sometimes when you go to start the engine, after cranking it just dies, no sputter or anything. Usually to get it to start u have to hit the gas pedal during cranking then rev it up to like 2-3 grand. If it should start on its own the idle fluctuates from like 500rpm to about 1,500rpm then slowly smooths out... Any suggestions? It recently had a tune up: cap rotor plugs wires, fuel filter, air filter.

Idle air control motor needs to be replaced. Its a easy fix:)

Check the pcv valve source line. There is a rubber hose that collapses and cracks causing a vacuum leak. If you replaced the pcv you may opened that line up. Definately check for vacuum leaks before spending the money on parts.
