well i have a weird starting problem with my mustang. sometimes... not all the time my car will just not turn over. i will just sound sick, the seatbelt buzzer sounds funny, the strat doesnt turn just clicks a bunch of time and then nothing. the lights will turn on, as will the radio. if i play with the key and the shifter, after some tim,e the car will start normal.
is their a some kind of selector switch that may be going wrong in the shifter, or some kind of key switch
this is a occuring on 82 mustang.

my quick guess is, if its auto, your park/neutral safety switch is fouled out.

Bad battery connection, check the terminals to see if they are clean, or loose. Try that if you still have a problem the battery could be bad even though it has enough juice to power the radio. Do the lights dim when you try to crank it?

yes the headlights always dim, even before the problem occured. then if i would step on it a bring it to like 1k they would brighten, along with the heater, it would blow harder.

Sounds like a bad battery to me!

yeah more then likely. By saying if you play with the shifter it would start, I thought it was something related to a safety switch, but quietflow seems to have hit the nail on the head.
