i decided to go with Mark william axles 8.8, 31 or 33 spline with 9 inch ends so i do not need to have clip elim's now i just have to decide on what diff i should go with, i have auburn now but i think i do not want cones. should i get eaton or true trac or detroit. whats a good posi. i do not want a spool.

Auburns are ok, I had one for awhile, but now I have an Eaton Posi unit, and they can be rebuilt and are pretty stout.

But if you want 33 spline the only place to get an Eaton is Mark Williams, and theyre $800.....
The Auburns are "rebuildable" also, just gotta send them in. Everyone hypes the Eaton cuz theyre rebuildable, but how many guys using them are actually gonna rebuild them if they do break? Nonetheless, they are a nice unit. If you go 33 spline, you have some pretty limited choices.......
Maybe you just don't know where to look, your information is somewhat incorrect. (http://www.gearsareus.com/GearsAreUs/Gearstuff/posiford.htm)

Oh and to add.. Who wants to take the differential out and send it in
when you can do the job correctly all at once with an Eaton?

Where do you see 33 spline Eaton? I dont see it?
Scroll down... Wanna borrow my glasses?? ;)
I know they have them. Fritz ordered a 28 and they sent him a 31 by mistake...

He was saying 33 spline. Unless you drive alot in circles spools are the ****. I drive the **** out of my spool, and the hooptie has a spool and its hard to notice unless you are doing u-turns...

Mark, I've got this stuff in my garage and available right now.
31 spline Moser axles and Eaton posi center section - $400.
4.10 ring & pinion gears - $100.
All these parts have less than 500 miles on them.
If you are interested, you can talk to the owner with any questions. PM me for his number.

I switched from an Eaton to a spool in my maroon car and never looked back. Like Bob said, as long as you don't make u turns all the time you will hardly know its there.

Hey Fritz - I know of someone looking for some 4.10's - you built a T5 for him and dropped it off while you were visiting someone up here. Don't know if you remember or not but his name is Craig, I'll let him know you have some. :D

I had a Detroit Locker in my 91 and loved it. It was pretty harsh for everyday driving when it would "lock" and "unlock", but the whole car was harsh so it didn't really matter. The thing was bullet proof, never had a problem with it, but I didn't drag race it that often, the car was built for going around corners, but when it locked up, it was locked up.

Yup, I remember.
I might have to make another run up that way in the next couple of weeks. So if it works out, I may be able to deliver them to him.

I thought you wanted a 31, then the discussion turned to 33's, I must not have been reading close enough... It happens when you're on two machines at once. :D

I twisted a good set of 31 spline axles with my car. it only took about 60 runs & I was running high 9s at the time...... If it was me I would get a good 33 or step up to a MW35 spline & be done with it. If you are going to be making more power than last year I would think about it.
