My heads are off. I'm getting new seals put in. How about a valve job? Badass mentioned having it done. What exactly is done to the valves? Any benefits?

I called RPM and talked to them. The guy was really nice and answeres alot of questions. There is also a place called Burrs in Rapids that someone form WSD told me about. I think I may just go there because its closer. We'll see though. Somebody had also mentioned K&B Engines in Marshfield..

a valve job should cost around $300 with new seals. & If you ever plan on a cam swap, you will have to change the springs. you could have them put the new springs on when they do the valve job. If you would know what spring you'll need..... how much $ do you want to spend? the list goes on.

300 is the going price for a serdi valvejob or comparable...if you're quoted anything less it will most likely be on a souix machine or handheld with a stone cutter. These are 289 hipo castings correct? if so, you don't need anything more than a cheap 3 angle stone cut by an experienced operator...blowing $300 on a valvejob on those heads is only needed for max effort class type prep imo

Yeah, they are the hi-po heads.
The heads are in the shop right now. They are going to clean them up and look for cracks, etc. Then they'll let me know what else needs done.

Well, it's going to run me about $350 they said. Thats to have the heads baked, checked for cracks, new valve guides, seals, and a valve job. He said the seals and valve guides were shot. He also said that the seals that were on the heads werent the right ones and the springs had been hitting the seals. Anyhow, my heads are getting the works I guess!
