I have a couple questions. I am looking to purchase Long tube headers and a catted x-pipe to complete the exhaust on my GT. I am looking at hooker headers because i have been told you can do tranny/clutch work without messing with/removing the headers to get to it, unlike other brands. Please tell me if this is correct or not. Also, i am looking at a bassani catted X-pipe to go with the headers. Will i have any fitment issues with the xpipe fitting up correctly with the long tubes? are there different mid-pipes for different header applications? (long-tube vs. mid-length vs. shorties)
Has anyone had any experience with bassani or hooker? please express your opinions/experiences.
I have flowmaster 40 series mufflers if that matters any.
Thanks!

Yes, hooker headers you will be able to trans work without having to remove the pass. side header.
No, you can not use the Bassani x-pipe with the hooker headers
Flowtech headers --- flowtech mid pipe
SLP headers ---- SLP midpipe
Hooker Headers ----- hooker mid pipe
BBK headers ----- BBK,Mac mide pipes
Mac Headers ----- BBK , Mac midpipes
those are the ones I can remember right now

what about Kooks? do they need to be removed for tranny work? Do only their brand mid-pipe work with the headers?

No and no. But it's really a really tight fit with long tubes, quite a few extensions and a "wobbley" to get the starter leads back on after install. Both Kooks and Hooker long tubes, individual tubes and a "slip fit" collector are a bear to install, dropping the "k" member is the best way to go for installing these types of headers IMO. Good Luck

I've installed the Hooker's w/ an x pipe on GT's. My best advise is to follow the directions to the number. I tried to do it by not following all the directions, only to end up doing exatactly what the directions said anyway. If you don't have a hoist, plan at least a full day, and that's if everything goes well. Good luck!
