Nope this is the Shop car for PER Race Engines (Renegade). Dave's car is up at www.teamzmotorsports.net and headed to another class.

The PER car is a 5.4 based N20 combo, taking advantage of some great weight breaks in the class.
Can't really speak for their schedule, the REN payouts at WFC have historically been low, so very few of the National NMRA REN cars come out to this event. I know they plan to try and make Fla. NMRA, event 1 for 2005.

I could be wrong but aren't most REN cars smaller then 5.4?

Modular or not it comes out to what 331'ish. I thought most REN engines were smaller than that. Out of couriosity why would a bigger engine get weight breaks? I would think navi heads flow a lot of air too. Just wondering

i think since it's a nitrous car, they are taking advantage of the weight break THAT power adder has over the s/c and turbo cars, so they CAN run a bigger engine to even them up with a forced induction setup

Most of the REN blower cars are smaller, most using 306ci, I think Josh has a bigger CI motor. But most the N2O cars use bigger cubic inches.
The small cube modular (4.6L) can weigh like 2600# this year, which is damn near impossible to get to that weight, might as well take those extra inches.

That's why you start with a body-in-white shell and build from there. In the long run it's actually a lot less work to do it that way.

That would be nice for them, since I think most of the renegade cars make somewhere in the 800s hp range or am I mistaken?

What kind of power do they make? roughly.

most are about 1000 at the flywheel.. some more, some less..

No kidding.
So I guess the drivetrain loss is less than conventional automatics then. Wouldn't 20% drivetrain loss put them in the 800's RWHP?
I am not trying to be a smart ass so don't take it that way. Just trying to learn something.

race cars should be alot more efficient..... my car was right around 11% loss at the wheels last year.

yes, but you never said 800rwhp.. you said 800hp..
actually, drive train loss is more like 22%+ as we have 6500stall converters..

Yeah, my bad, I didn't even realize. I usually just assume RWHP when talking about those things.
Thanks
