If I am on the guest list, I will bring Spike's famous Ber Brats! You'll never look at a brat the same way after you've tried these!!! LOL
The house looks great....WOW!
Now you just need a Saleen S7 to go in the garage...there's one on EBAY for 400K....LOL
Spike
You will be on the list when we have a house warming party.
As for the garage right now there is only a 1-1/2 car full of crap.
I am hoping for a brand spanking new 2-3 car this fall.

Here is the first sheet up.
http://home.earthlink.net/~kirktaylor/images/first_sheet.jpg
What a day.
The drywall contractor called after lunch to let me know the top half of the bathroom closet was about an inch out of plumb. Arrrrrgh!
Well I grabbed the trusty sawzall and a sledgehammer and it is now acceptable.
Nothing like a little friendly persuasion. The Master bedroom is now rocked, and looks great.

I took a roll by yesterday on the way home, siding looks nice. When's the front going to be done?
They should finish the North side today, and then on to the front.
There are six guys hanging drywall today so it should really fly.
Tim Russell
05-05-2004, 10:09 AM
Cool if the weather cooperates the front should be sided by the end of the week. Supposed to be good today. Can't wait to see it done. :thumbs_up

Another room bites the dust.
The bathroom is now primed.

You left out the pictures of all the MESS!!! :D
What's the plan for the pole there? You going to put a banister on the open side? Perhaps some sort of wooden railing?
Pole is for dancing :D....
Just kidding, We are going to wrap it in trim to make it look like a wood post.
There will be some kind of a railing there, to be determined.
Tim Russell
06-21-2004, 06:19 AM
Lookin' good :thumbs_up
He He Pole Dancing Ha Ha (insert Bevis and Butt Head sounds) :D

The kneewall on the stairs is done, And made a little adjustment on the flor upstairs so the drywall will work.
So now we are ready for the last of the drywall Tuesday.
Jesse James
06-26-2004, 11:23 PM

The office & bathroom are now 100% primed. We have finish colors picked for office, bathroom & loft. Still trying to find the right color for the bedroom.
Great news yesterday.
Our bathroom sink that was not supposed to arrive until August is in & will be delivered Thursday!
Drywall is up around the stairs. It looks great. We have plastic hanging in the livingroom to control the dust & a bunch of fans blowing to try to dry it so they can finish tomorrow.
Greg@GLD
06-30-2004, 09:55 PM
So when is the party???
We were just discussing weekends & painting time tonight.
July is a busy month.
This weekend the fourth.
Next weekend Jimmy Buffett @ Alpine, staying in Lake Geneva for the weekend.
Then the MMA/EAA show and going to the Vintage race @ Road America.
Then it's a week @ the New Jersey Shore for vacation
Holy Crap are we booked.
Well we bought some electronics for the addition.
A 15" Sharp LCD for the bathroom
http://www.sharpusa.com/images/tel_LC15S2US_pic2_h174.jpg
And a 20" Sharp LCD for the bedroom
http://www.sharpusa.com/images/tel_LC20B4US_pic2_h174.jpg
The bath will mount so it can be angled toward the tub, and the other just a simple wall mount.
Jesse James
07-20-2004, 08:44 PM
Ooooh, Ahhhh, that's some nice toyz there Kirk!!
The plan is to install the 20" in the bedroom, but if it ends up being a little too small we have a line on a 42" to take it's place. :D
Tim Russell
07-21-2004, 06:10 AM
Good lookin' electronics. I gotta see the progress sometime. :thumbs_up
Well today was good progress.
The ceilings in the bathroom & the office are done.
The closet in the bathroom is also done.
Tomorrow we paint the walls in the bathroom & the toilet room.
So Tim,
Last time you saw it there were just stud walls.
Look a little different now? :D
Tim Russell
07-24-2004, 08:32 AM
Very different, I can really picture it finished. Man with all that painting your doing you were probably worn out. I hate doing celings. I can see that it's going to be a great space, the bathroom will rule, plunking into the whirl pool tub watching the flatscreen. :thumbs_up
BTW the brush chipping went from the time I got home till after 7. I just got up and my arms and legs are really sore but at least the job's done.
Installed the screen doors on the french doors leading to the deck.
Now we can keep those doors open.
We got a late start today but got half of the shower tiled.
We spent about 1-1/2 haours last night figuring out how to lay out the tile best.
And then ended up spending another hour or so today again.
It's looking good.
And don't anyone ask when it's going to be done.

Lookin Great there Kirk!! If not a Big Blue Oval, maybe a small neon Ford/Ford Racing Clock!! Tile looks fantastic, I have "experienced" tile, We "myself and one other guy" tiled from the floor half way up the walls of a 10,000 sqft club in a day.... LOL
Looks Great Man!!
Thanks James.
Gotta love having your own wet tile saw. Lots of time to get the layout correct and then precise cuts, but in the end it just looks so good.

Tim Russell
11-29-2004, 07:41 AM
Don't feel bad, I wrecked a door a few months back when I replaced the doors in our house. I just replaced it with a new one and moved on.
BTW Kirk, I finally started on that wall in the basement that was supporting the steel beam. Turned out to be a simple matter of blocking in the end where the notch in the foundation was under the beam and just remove the wall. No weird new cracks or anything and it closed up a plaster crack that was about 1/8" so it seems OK. :thumbs_up
We just have to pull the frame & reposition it.
Good to hear your wall project worked out.

Might need some advice on how to keep your sanity though a renovation. We decided to do the kitchen and both bathrooms this year. Should be fun. :thud:
We gave the tub it's Maiden Voyage tonight.
http://www.1fastv6.com/Remodel/images/house410.jpg
I am so sore & bruised from wiggleing through the access hole and under the tub to hook it up & check for leaks.
And there is one small one. Duct tape has it for now, but I will get some epoxy to make it a permanent fix.
Well all I can sya is Ultra Bath rocks on customer service.
The same night we tested the tub & found the small leak I emailed them.
The next morning I had two emails, one from customer service stating that their Technical Service Dept will be contacting me and one from their Technical Service Dept stating that they will repair it at no cost & to contatct them.
I explained that we have had it on site for a year and we could have damaged it ourselves. They said not to worry about it & they would contact their local service company. 3:20 that afternoon I had a call from the service company & they will make the repair tomorrow!
Now that's what I call taking good care of the customer.

The tub is fixed & will be permanently set tonight.
Hot water hook up tomorrow then it's bath time. :D
OMG what a day. :thud:
I finally got around to the final plumbing adventure today.
Tore out the last of the galvanized pipe for the first floor sink & toilet, put shut offs on the first floor shower, removed 3/4 of the galvanized pipe for the out side hose, roughed in a supply for a sink in the basement family room ( next years project) and tied in the second floor.
This little adventure took all day & most of the night.
But I was able to take the new tub for it's Maiden Voyage, and the shower.
All I can say is "Hell Ya" :D :alc:

What are weekends indeed. You looked like you could use a free one when I ran into you at Menards yesterday. As for me I only got 2 of 4 outside lights up after I got home. :thud:
Ok this being a home improvement thread
I would love to kick the ass of the moron who thought it was a good idea to wire up floodlights on my house without junction boxes. Also sure lets use what every wire we have, part of an extention cord, sure why not. It's a wonder the house didn't burn down a long time ago! ARGH!
Lucky thing the source for the above gonzo wiring went through the switchbox for the outside lights and I was able to disconnect both the hot and neutral wires so that old wiring will not haunt me. I just simply capped off the wires, chopped them off at the other end and covered the holes with cover plates painted white.
Ah the joys of older houses, I think I would have rather been working on plumbing like Kirk. The worse thing it can do is leak. :thud:
When you see what I did you may be happy with your electrical adventure. :D
As they say on Monster House....
Done!
We just had our final inspection & recieved certificate of occupancy.

I agree :thud: they reassessed us this year, haven't gotten the bill yet but with all the teardowns property values are going way up. :thud:
Well,
We finally installed blinds on all the windows today, and moved the bed up to the new bedroom, and mounted the tv on the wall. tomorrow is Deb's closet rods and the dressers. The king size mattress barely made it up the stairway.

LOL how true, spent Sunday helping a friend move some furniture out of his house so their floors can get redone. Normal thing 40's house with nice hardwood covered in carpet. Gonna look good. What started the project, the wife. :D
And who would have guessed that I would hang the first thing on the new walls.... :D
