I'm building a car with a transbrake for the first time and I'm not exactly sure on where I want the transbrake button to be. I thought about mounting it in the dash, but then I thought that would be hard to use. I noticed some shift knobs have buttons on them, but what happens if you accidentally hit that button while driving down the street(this car is also a street car). I also thought about having it on a cord, and then just releasing the button and dropping the switch to grab the shifter.

Any experienced transbrake user advice would be appreciated.

Put an enable toggle switch in line with the power for your transbrake. Then mount it in an out of the way place to prevent mishaps. Mounting the button on the shifter shouldn't be a problem then.

yes i have another power button with a red light on it. if i forget to hit the main switch the red light stays on. plus i need to hit the button to engage reverse. do not put in on the shifter without two switches. conv will lock up at any speed. i main switch i have on a aircraft style switch also. good luck if you have any questions let me know. you can also get the long cord that way you can hold it in your hand.

I used to have mine on a hand held cord. This year I bought a button that I mounted on the console. That way I don't have to drop the cord and grab the shifter, I just take my hand off the button and grab the shifter. I think it will work out pretty slick.

A transbreak operates in a c-4 by engaging 1st or 3 rd and reverse at the same time to hold the car. It would not be good to activate it while moving. Do you have nitrous? If so you should also wire a inturupt relay. When the nitrous is activated when you push the t-break button the n20 shuts off. Them you can launch floored on the 2 step and as soon as you let the button go the nitrous flows....

I have mine on the button on the top of my shifter. The switch to the left of the shifter is the arming switch, and the red led above the MSD rich/lean indicator (next to where it says "quartz") illuminates when its armed.

I have mine on a Dynamic Launch Stick. Its pretty cool and I have never had any problems dropping it and reaching the shifter in time to pull gears.
